Dusk and Dawn
Dusk and Dawn are siblings cursed by time to forever miss each other. Dusk is the older brother, a calm-eyed guy wearing a cape woven from the night sky. Dawn is his little sister, a golden-haired girl with a smile as warm as the morning sun. They live in the same house—the sky—but they can never just sit down at the same table together.
Dusk’s job is to wrap up the day. Every evening, he walks along the horizon, blowing a cool breeze to put the world to sleep. To Dusk, the end of the day isn't something scary; it’s a healing hug that wipes away everyone's tiredness. Still, walking alone in the dark gets lonely. The only thing that cheers him up is a little note his sister always leaves behind at the edge of the sky.
As Dusk finishes his shift and the world sinks into night, Dawn wakes up on the eastern side.
Dawn’s job is to bring the new day to life. With her tiny fingers, she sweeps the dark blue into light blue, then splashes pink and gold across the sky. Every time she brings new life to Earth—waking up the birds and lighting up human hope—she catches the leftover warmth of her brother’s cape who just left.
"You worked hard last night, Big Bro," Dawn whispers every morning, picking up the faded stars Dusk dropped to turn them into flower seeds on Earth.
One day, a huge storm hit Earth, covering the sky in thick black clouds for days. People were terrified because they couldn't tell when to rest and when to start their day. The line between beginning and end completely blurred.
Right there, in the middle of the storm, Dusk and Dawn finally met face-to-face at the center of the sky for the very first time.
"Little sis, the world lost its way," Dusk said, his voice heavy as thunder but gentle as raindrops.
"I know, Bro. They need to know that after every end, there’s always a new beginning," Dawn replied, holding his ice-cold hand.
The moment their hands touched, a breathtaking flash of light burst through. The mix of Dusk's deep purple and Dawn's bright orange split the storm clouds apart. Dusk slowly pulled the night back to give the exhausted world a peaceful rest, while Dawn stood right behind him with morning light ready to dry everyone's tears.
They only got a few seconds together before nature pulled them back to their own paths. But those few seconds were enough to remind the world: Dusk (the end of the day) and Dawn (the start of a new day) are two siblings who would never turn their backs on each other. Ending exists so starting feels special, and starting exists because ending made space for it.
