Chapter 1: The Peak Alpha
Despite being an Omega, Aaron Serra had wanted to protect rather than be protected for as long as he could remember. He never wanted to be like his younger brother—someone who cried at the drop of a hat, hid behind Alphas, and had to be handled with care like fragile porcelain. No, that wasn’t it. He just couldn’t be that way.
Most Alphas—unless they had some peculiar tastes—chose Omegas like Serra’s brother: golden, silky hair, beautiful eyes, adorable, submissive, and blessed with a soft, desirable body. Serra, however, was plain. With unremarkable chestnut hair, light brown eyes, and average height and weight, he looked just like a Beta. On top of that, he was defiant. No Alpha would ever want a hot-headed, feral Omega who always leaked restless energy and wouldn’t hesitate to kick an Alpha to the ground. Desperate, his father once begged an Alpha acquaintance to break him, trying to force him into submission and discipline him into a “proper Omega” through days of brutal conditioning. Yet, no matter how cruelly that Alpha tried to break his body, the Omega inside Serra refused to bow down.
“The shame of the family.” “The broken Omega.” That was what his family called him, treating him like an outcast. So, when Serra decided to enlist in the military, his parents didn’t offer their support, nor did they shed any tears to stop him. They were completely indifferent. They couldn’t care less what kind of hell he went through in an army full of Alphas, or if he died in the line of duty. Having his beautiful Omega brother was more than enough for them. His brother would carry on the family bloodline. So Serra believed it didn’t matter what happened to him or where he ended up dying like a dog; he felt his own life had absolutely no worth. Yet, even if his life was worthless, he wanted it to mean something. That single craving was the only thing keeping his soul and body anchored to this world, dangling by a thread that was ready to snap at any moment.
And so, determined to find meaning in his life, he successfully enlisted as one of the very few Omega soldiers and made the choice to undergo “that procedure.” It was a temporary sterilization treatment often called an Omega’s ultimate nightmare and most humiliating ordeal: Reproductive Lockdown. Commonly known as the “Clip Procedure,” it was a surgery that temporarily sealed his inner anatomy to completely block an Alpha’s seed. The military’s official orders were simple: maintain a strict regimen of suppressants, refrain from any relationships with Alphas within the forces or his team, and keep his Omega status hidden from everyone except his immediate commanding officer. Yet, he went a step further, willingly choosing to go under the knife. All to destroy, by his own hand, the Omega vessel bound by fate.
As long as they do not get pregnant, an Omega is no different from a Beta. Suppress the pheromones with inhibitors, and no Alpha will ever notice. Even if the worst should happen—captured during a mission and subjected to absolute violation, or assaulted by an Alpha within the team—they will absolutely never conceive. Without a child inside them, they can always take up arms and fight as a soldier. They can keep up the lie of being a Beta.
Above all, Sera’s body had become completely broken into mental and physical violence. Though the body might be temporarily damaged, the mind would not suffer. For that heart was already shattered, leaving no room to carve any new wounds. No matter what happened, a heart that was already dead could not die any further.
Fortunately, in all of his 27 years of life, Sera had never once been drawn to an Alpha. Perhaps his sense of smell had been ruined by the side effects of the clip surgery and excessive doses of suppressants. Yet, thanks to that, he never self-destructed through pure instinct—unlike those Alphas who went mad at the mere scent of an Omega, or those Omegas who instantly lost their reason and fell to their knees when exposed to Alpha pheromones. Without anyone ruining his life, he could focus entirely on his missions.
Though he loathed to admit it, perhaps due to his instinctive Omega harmony, he quickly resolved any conflicts within the team, cared for the minds of wounded soldiers, and showed deep consideration for newcomers. These actions were highly valued, and before he knew it, they earned him the deep trust of those around him.
Consequently, recognized for his excellence and recommended by the upper management, Sera gained the chance to become the first Omega to join the special forces unit, “Phantom Hound.” Of course, in accordance with military regulations, only his immediate superior knew of Sera’s secondary gender.
Captain Brett Rourke—the commander of the special forces unit ‘Phantom Hound’ and the Alpha who would become Sera’s direct superior. He was the only person within the team who knew that Sera was an Omega. And now, for his final interview to secure his enlistment into the Hounds, Sera finally stood face-to-face with Captain Rourke.
Called to Rourke’s office, Sera arrived in front of the room exactly on time. Before the door, he checked his military uniform for any disarray and ran his fingers through his hair to neaten it. He had taken his suppressants properly. He told himself there should be no risk of stimulating an Alpha, nor of being stimulated in return. The man inside is just a superior officer. It didn’t matter if he was an Alpha or anything else—yet even as he tried to force that belief upon himself, Sera’s shoulders stiffened with tension, and his breathing grew shallow. Entering this unit was the highest honor for a soldier in this nation. Moreover, if an Omega were to join, it would be an unprecedented, historic achievement. Weary of his own Omega nature yet unable to avoid being conscious of it, he gave a self-deprecating smile at the contradiction, then knocked on the door.
“Enter.”
Rourke’s low, calm voice resonated from inside the room. Brett Rourke was famous within the military as a Peak Alpha—a supreme Alpha possessing elite DNA, existing at an extremely rare ratio of one in ten thousand. At the mere sound of that voice, the Omega within Sera was already attempting to submit to him, desperately searching for his scent through the door. Despite having taken his suppressants, his own pheromones were screaming to be noticed by the Alpha.
Damn it.
Sera cursed inwardly. A cold sweat ran down his spine along with a grim premonition, but there was no turning back now.
“Excuse me, sir.”
The moment he opened the door, Sera was nearly choked by an overwhelming wave of Alpha pheromones. Rourke stood by the office window, bathed in the sunlight, radiating an aura that seemed to make his entire silhouette glow. He had short black hair, stubble that emphasized his sharp jawline, and piercing, translucent hazel eyes. Most striking of all was the large scar carved from the corner of his mouth to his ear. Yet, that scar did not detract from the handsome Alpha’s charm in the slightest; rather, it gave him an air of mystery and ferocious power.
“Sergeant Aaron Sera...”
Pierced by Rourke’s sharp gaze, Sera managed a “Yes, sir!” but his voice was visibly trembling. He felt exactly like a terrified Omega moments before being preyed upon by an Alpha, cold sweat bursting from his forehead in a mix of shame and anxiety.
“Don’t be so tense. I only called you in today for a final confirmation regarding your assignment to the Hounds.”
Moving away from the window, Rourke stepped in front of his desk and leaned lightly against its edge. Every slight movement of the Alpha allowed his pheromones to dominate the entire room, coiling around Sera.
Those damn suppressants aren’t doing a single thing—
He refused to waste this opportunity just because of a faulty batch of suppressants. Desperately trying to quiet his Omega instincts, Sera distracted his mind by recalling the brutal training he had endured.
“Now, I want to clarify one thing first. Regarding your file, the emergency contact section is blank. Am I to understand this means that if you die on a mission, there is no need to notify anyone? Is even a notification to your parents unnecessary?”
“My parents are dead.”
“Don’t tell me such a transparent lie. On record, your family is very much alive.”
“I misspoke. I killed them. In my mind.”
Sera couldn’t fathom why he had responded that way. He figured the Alpha’s overwhelming coercion had completely short-circuited his ability to think straight.
“I see... If that is the case, I shall ask no further. Besides, your family matters are of no concern to me. What I want to know is how long you can withstand my Alpha pheromones.”
Saying this, Rourke straightened up from the desk he had been leaning against, took a step forward, and closed the distance between them.
“Every member of my team is an Alpha. Unlike the places you’ve been before, there are no spineless Betas or errand-boy Omegas here. Once we go out on a mission, you will instantly be surrounded by Alpha pheromones. If you easily go into heat like a bitch, it will put all of our lives in danger.”
“Yes, sir. I am fully aware.”
Rourke walked slowly around Sera, evaluating him from head to toe, appraising every single inch. Bathed in the Alpha’s thick pheromones, Sera fought desperately to hold his ground, thinking that he would need to get a prescription for a much stronger drug—one that could counter a Peak Alpha’s pheromones.
“Are you properly taking your suppressants?”
“Yes, sir.”
Rourke stopped right in front of Sera and took another step closer, catching the faint scent of an Omega. At a distance so narrow that their uniforms were mere centimeters from touching, every cell in Sera’s body froze with terror. Cold sweat trickled down his spine.
“And yet, I catch a sweet scent coming from you. Fear, excitement, anger... and the scent of heat, begging to draw closer to my Alpha.”
“That is impossible...!”
As if the desperate feelings he had been suppressing were laid bare, Sera protested against Rourke, while simultaneously trying frantically to deny his own reality.
“Shall we find out? Exactly how you are reacting to me, right here, right now.”
Rourke gripped Sera’s arm with force, pulling him forward and forcing him down across the desk.
“Ah...! Captain!”
Pinned face-down against the office desk, Sera’s cheek was pressed against the cold, hard wooden surface. Rourke secured the back of Sera’s neck with one hand, while his other clamped down on his waist. At the sudden, intense physical contact from the Alpha, the tension in Sera’s lower abdomen began to flare with an involuntary, simmering heat. Desperate to keep the Alpha from notifying his distress, Sera forced his gaze and consciousness onto the documents and laptop scattered across the desk.
Yet, as if seeing right through his distraction, Rourke spoke to the Omega in a voice that vibrated deep in the gut—low, forceful, and demanding—dragging Sera’s attention back to him.
“Sergeant Sera, are you afraid of me? Trembling before me? Hm? You think you can fight alongside Alphas in a state like this?”
With those words, Rourke wedged his body between Sera’s legs, pressing his weight firmly against the Omega’s body. Even with both of them clad in their military uniforms, this aggressive act went far beyond any mere physical contact. Trembling with fear and a flicker of intense shock at the sudden Alpha presence—something he hadn’t faced so closely in years—Sera immediately tensed his entire body.
“N-No, you’re wrong! I’m not afraid! I... I can fight!!”
“Is that so? Then why are you trembling?”
Rourke deliberately ground his hips against Sera from behind, the gesture blatantly evocative of something far more intimate.
“Ah...!”
“What’s wrong? Making sounds like that already... Have you started craving an Alpha already? It hasn’t even been five minutes since we met, and you’ve already given in to me. Pathetic.”
It was the truth. Sera’s instincts had completely succumbed to the overwhelming pheromones of the Peak Alpha. Facing a flawless Alpha for the first time in his life, Sera was defenseless against the deep, instinctual reactions surging through his body.
“It’s... it’s just because my medication is ineffective... I am only reacting to your pheromones, Captain.”
Sera pressed his forehead against Rourke’s desk, gritting his teeth in a desperate attempt to endure the heat rising within him. But as if mocking his resistance, Rourke leaned down, his body completely overlapping with Sera’s back. Then, his lips nearly touching Sera’s ear, he spoke in a low, rumbling tone.
“Reacting to my pheromones? Did you really intend to join my team with a body like that? What would have happened if you deployed on a mission without knowing your medicine was ineffective?”
The moment Rourke’s warm breath brushed against his ear and neck, Sera’s composure suffered a complete defeat, his physical instincts betraying his mind as a surge of heat radiated through him.
“...Ngh... ah...”
Pinned down and overshadowed by the massive Alpha, and while being taunted with insults right against his ear, Rourke continued to thrust his hips, violating Sera’s opening through the fabric.
“I bet you’ll straddle me in front of every Alpha on the team, grinding your hips for all you’re worth. And once they see you like that, they’ll take turns fucking you however they please. You know what would happen if something like that went down in the middle of a critical mission, don’t you?”
Amidst a crushing sense of despair and humiliation, Sera still forced his brain to work, fighting down his internal turmoil to face Rourke.
“I will... get a stronger... prescription...! A drug so potent... it won’t even react to your pheromones.”
“Right—do exactly that. You absolutely must not let anyone on the team realize you’re an Omega. What would happen if an Alpha came inside you during a mission?”
At Rourke’s blunt words, Sera imagined the seed of the powerful Alpha behind him being buried deep inside his body, and felt sweet nectar slowly begin to seep from his opening.
“I... I won’t get pregnant; I underwent a clipping procedure...”
“Oh? I see. That shows quite a bit of resolve. But there was no mention of that in the file, was there?”
As he said this, Rourke pulled away from Sera’s back.
Sera felt a sense of relief, yet at the same time scolded his inner Omega for mourning the loss of the Alpha’s warmth against his back.
However, Sera was not entirely free.
The Alpha still held him by the scruff of the neck, his body pressed firmly against the curve of Sera’s backside.
And it was unmistakably growing harder by the second.
Sera fought desperately not to swallow the saliva pooling in his mouth, struggling to conceal his craving from Rourke.
“...Th-that is because there was no field for it on the form...”
“That should be under special remarks, shouldn’t it? After all, you are an Omega who can never conceive, no matter what happens. You’re an ideal target for amusement. You are truly desperate... Do you want to become a pet for the Alphas in my unit that badly?”
“N-No, you are wrong!! I simply wanted to remove any potential obstacle, so that I could perform my duties as a proper member of the team...!”
Just as Sera tried desperately to continue his explanation, Rourke drove against him from behind once more, rough enough to make him jolt despite the barrier of their clothes.
Sera let out an involuntary cry at the unexpected impact. He felt the unmistakable hardness of him, and his hips shuddered as he sensed wetness slowly trickling down his thighs.
“Ngh... ah...”
Rourke let out a low, mocking chuckle.
“...Are you remarkably devoted, or simply a fool? I fail to see why the high command recommended you. Even this story about your clip surgery sounds suspicious to me.”
“What... how can you... I can provide my records if necessary...”
“There is no need to go to such trouble. I can verify it easily enough.”
The next instant, the sound of Rourke’s belt unfastening came from behind him, and cold sweat trickled down Sera’s back.
“If you don’t end up carrying my child, I’ll let you join the team on the mission two months from now. But what if that story about the surgery is a lie, and you end up pregnant?”
This time, unlike before, Rourke pressed his lips close to Sera’s ear and whispered in a low, gravelly voice that seemed to resonate from deep in his chest.
“I look forward to that...”
“Ah...!”
In the next breath—Sera’s trousers were yanked down hard, dragging his underwear with them to his ankles.
The Alpha gripped him hard and pulled him open, baring him to the cold air. Sera gasped at the sudden exposure.
“Ngh...!”
Rourke let out a mocking chuckle.
“You’re completely ready, aren’t you? If you desired an Alpha’s presence this much, then I shall give it to you.”
The next instant, without any preparation, Rourke’s immense force pushed into Sera, driving all the way into his core in a single motion.
“Ah...!”
As the massive presence suddenly stretched his interior, Sera felt a sweet, numbing sensation flare through his lower abdomen rather than pure pain. To the very end, his Omega nature betrayed his mind.
“Look at that. I reached your very depths smoothly on the first try. An Omega is always prepared.”
Rourke laughed quietly from behind, increasing the speed of his movements.
“Tell me, Omega. You want an Alpha... you want my presence, don’t you?”
Sera could not answer. He fought to keep his clouded mind spinning, desperately trying to figure out the correct response.Rourke is likely testing me.If he didn’t resist and remained compliant here, he would surely pass. The Captain was intentionally trying to shake him, anger him, and force him to lose control. In reality, if he were captured by the enemy and his identity as an Omega was exposed, he would face this exact ordeal.
This was merely a form of preparatory training.
—Sera forced himself to believe that. That’s right.
Surrendering my body to an Alpha now is nothing to worry about...
Sera closed off his heart, desperately trying to maintain his composure against the overwhelming pressure of Rourke’s presence.
“Damn it, you Omega... why are you so...”
Rourke muttered low behind him, moving relentlessly, while Sera bit his own fingers and squeezed his eyes shut, desperately trying to distract himself from the pleasure of his arousal rubbing against the hard desk.
“Sergeant Sera, you’re clamping down too hard... Are you trying to make me cum?”
Rourke slowed his pace, shifting to a languid rhythm as if savoring the sensation of being inside Sera. For a moment, the tip struck Sera’s sweet spot; a breathy moan nearly slipped from his lips, but he hurriedly bit down on his fingers to hold it back.
“But you’re coming first.I want to see you surrender to it.”
With that, Rourke withdrew, flipped Sera onto his back, and stripped away the underwear and trousers tangled around his ankles.
Sera crossed his arms in front of his face, trying to hide it from Rourke. But Rourke wouldn’t allow it; he pinned Sera’s wrists together above his head with one hand and commanded him in a low, raspy voice right by his ear:
“No—don’t hide. Look at me. See clearly who’s fucking you. You’re going to cum on my cock.”
Under the absolute presence of the Alpha, the Omega within Sera felt his ability to resist fade away. His expression remained one of deep confusion as he found himself unable to do anything but stare back into Rourke’s cold, piercing hazel eyes.
“That’s it. Be still.”
The next instant, as Rourke narrowed his eyes, the weight of the Alpha’s presence pressed down upon Sera once more, overwhelming his senses.
Feeling the intense pressure of being dominated, Sera involuntarily caught his breath and squeezed his eyes shut. This was only the second time in his life he had been so forcefully suppressed by an Alpha. And—it had been exactly the same back then. A situation forced upon him against his will. It was not a bond; it was a display of power. And this, too, felt like a harsh imposition.
What a miserable state I am in—
In all his life, Sera had never experienced a gentle or mutual connection with an Alpha. He only knew their existence through the lens of authority and force. Suddenly, a shadow from his past flashed across his mind. The heavy atmosphere and the breathing of the man before him made the old nightmare feel terrifyingly vivid. As if cold water had been dumped over him, Sera’s spirit broke, and his body grew cold. Tears began to spill from the corners of his tightly shut eyes, and his jaw trembled uncontrollably.
Oh no. If I show such weakness to Captain Rourke, I don’t know what will happen...
At that moment, noticing the shift in the Omega’s demeanor, the Alpha gently cupped Sera’s cheek. With his thumb, he softly wiped away the tear gathered at the edge of his eye—and placed a quiet, unexpected kiss on his closed eyelid.
“What is wrong, Sera? Focus on me. You were reacting so clearly until now. What displeased you?”
As if soothing a lover, Rourke pressed soft, repeated kisses across Sera’s face, finally brushing his lips gently against Sera’s own.
“Come now, open your eyes. Just let me take care of you. You’re with me. You’re safe with me”
Startled by the sudden kiss and the drastic shift in Rourke’s tone—now sounding like an entirely different person—Sera snapped his eyes open.
“That’s it. Look only at me. Feel only me.”
Resting his forehead against Sera’s, Rourke began to lead the moment with a slow, deliberate pace. Unlike the forceful intensity from before, his movements were now deep and steady, thoroughly overwhelming Sera’s senses.
“Ngh... ah...”
Unable to endure the continuous tension, a soft gasp escaped from Sera’s lips. His resolve began to waver once more as a wave of intense heat returned to his body. Watching the Omega’s reaction, a smirk played at the edge of Rourke’s lips.
“Does this feel right? That’s right, surrender everything to me.”
A sweet, numbing warmth rushed through his entire being, as if burning him from the inside out, causing his back to arch naturally. As if driving Sera to the very brink of ecstasy, Rourke grasped the Omega’s erect core and began to stroke it up and down.
“Ngh...!”
He tried to tell himself that this was nothing more than an act of cold authority, a display of raw power. Yet, deep within, Sera’s instincts betrayed him, falling into the illusion that he was being claimed and protected by the Alpha. He trembled under the weight of a sensation he had never known before.
No... I can’t let myself break like this...
“Come on. Give in to it. Come while you feel me inside you...”
Caught between his mind’s rejection and his body’s overwhelming response, Sera felt his senses begin to fracture. Just as his vision blurred, Rourke’s breath hitched against the curve of his neck, asserting his dominance with a sharp, sudden pressure.
“Ah...!”
The last of Sera’s resistance finally snapped. With a choked cry, he reached his limit, his entire being tensing under the Alpha’s overwhelming presence.
Driven by the Omega’s total surrender, Rourke pressed his advantage, his movements becoming more forceful and demanding until the final moment of peak intensity.
“Take it all, Omega...”
Moments later, as he felt the heat of Rourke’s release deep inside him, Sera desperately tried to fathom the true intentions of the Alpha, who kept his gaze fixed on him as his hips continued their slow, languid rhythm.
He had fallen neatly into Rourke’s trap, into that cunning pattern of alternating harshness with tenderness to break down an Omega, and despite recognizing the act for what it was, he had still found himself responding to it with unwanted pleasure.
Pressed by the throbbing, overwhelming presence of the male still deep inside him, Sera writhed in rejection, trying to push the Alpha away, if only by a fraction.
Fortunately, Rourke did not engage in knotting, keeping his knot outside of Sera. Despite this, Rourke showed no immediate intention of pulling away, causing a renewed wave of fear to wash over Sera.
Is the “interview” still not over?
After what felt like an eternity, Rourke finally let out a deep sigh and moved off of him. Once the Alpha had fully distanced his body, he used a tissue from the desk to meticulously clean the traces left on both himself and Sera. He then assisted Sera in putting back on the uniform that had been stripped away. The gentleness of these actions, completely jarring against the harshness of what had just occurred, left Sera’s mind in a state of absolute chaos, though he could do nothing but remain completely still and let it happen.Gripping Sera’s arm, Rourke pulled him up from the desk, adjusted his disarrayed clothing, straightened his hair, and finally stared intently into Sera’s tear-filled brown eyes.Sera braced himself, waiting for the captain to spit out more bitter, cruel words.
Contrary to his expectations, however, a heavy, quiet silence stretched between them as they simply locked eyes.Unable to bear the suffocating awkwardness any longer, Sera was just about to ask if he could leave, when—
“You’re dismissed, Sergeant Sera. I’m looking forward to seeing whether you conceive or not. And I look forward to seeing you safe and sound at the Hound strategy meeting two months from now.”
With those words, Rourke opened the office door and gestured for Sera to step out of the room.
