Chapter 1: First Glance 🌸

Let me tell you a story — are you ready?

What matters most in life? Love, money, or your goals? Life depends on three things this is my point of view, you can decide for yourself. Love, money, and goals. Every move you make takes you toward a new direction — the change might be small or big, but it always has an effect.

How, why, for what reason

My college life had just started, and back then, I had no thought or worry about any of these things. I didn't know that, going forward, life was about to teach me so much, and how it would completely change the way I looked at everything.

One evening, I was studying in my room I had college the next morning. I got a call. "Where are you? I know you're bored sitting alone, come on, let's go," said my friend Andy. I refused. Then Andy said, "Come on, there's a small party at my place." His dad liked me, and he was probably the one who told Andy to invite me — where else would Andy get that kind of sense from.

I stepped outside. It was raining, the air was cold. I went back home, grabbed my jacket, and left for Andy's place. When I walked into his house, I saw a lot of chatter going on Andy's uncle had come over too.

That's when I saw her... standing to one side with a coffee mug in her hand, separate from everyone, cut off from everyone, as if she didn't belong with the crowd.

"She's my cousin, Andy — she's come from the city, come, let me introduce you. Aria, this is Steve, my friend."

"Hi," she said with a smile. I looked at her closely I couldn't even manage to say "hi" back. Then she gave a small smile and lowered her eyes a little.

"Where'd you get lost?" Andy said. "You've been staring at her for ten minutes without saying a word."

Ugh, I don't know how to explain it I felt so many emotions at once, but I gathered my courage and said, "Have you been here before?"

"Yeah," Aria said, "I've come after a long time. It's so peaceful here."

"So does that mean you didn't find peace anywhere in the city?"

She smiled and said, "Yeah. I didn't find peace there." Believe me, hearing that made me really happy. At that moment, I thought to myself I wish she would just stay here.

But little did I know what was about to begin, and what storm Aria had brought along with her...

Oh wait, my introduction is still left, friend. Steve Foster yeah, I'm the hero of this story. And maybe the villain too. I live in a new town with my mom and sister. My dad's not around anymore. Living in this town isn't easy at all — everyone follows the same routine here, most people don't like change, and there aren't a lot of opportunities here either.

Alright, let's get back to the story.

I went back home, and all night, her deep, dark blue-ish eyes, her messy hair, her simplicity that's all that stayed on my mind. Sleep was nowhere to be found.

But that was just the beginning...

Chapter 2: Waiting

The next day, I woke up a little late. Quick shower, changed clothes, already running behind for college. Mom called out, "Have breakfast," but I just said, "I'm late," grabbed my bike, and left.

Even at college, I couldn't focus on anything else. I kept checking the time, wondering when the day would be over, when I'd get to see her again. Andy caught on. "Bro, you seem off today, what's up?" I just smiled and said it was nothing.

After college, we stopped by the usual canteen between our place and campus, but I told Andy I needed to get home. I changed, grabbed something to eat, and realized I had no real excuse to head back to his house. So I just sat outside instead, doing nothing but waiting. Looking back now, it sounds a little ridiculous. But at the time, even the waiting felt good — there was this strange happiness in it.

About two hours in, I heard a voice. "Steve, what are you doing out here?" I looked up, and there was Andy's sister Emily with Aria right beside her.

"Aria... hi," I managed.

"Hey. Where are you headed?" she asked.

"We're going to the market," Emily said. "You coming?"

"Yeah, sure," I said, already walking, already not paying attention to where I was going, because I was too busy looking at Aria. A few steps later, Emily had to redirect me "Steve, the road's this way" — and Aria laughed, because she'd clearly noticed.

At the market, once we had a minute alone, I asked her to tell me about herself. Turned out she went to a well-known college back in the city, her dad ran his own company, and their whole lifestyle was different from mine completely different, honestly. She told me she was preparing for university, aiming for medicine.

We talked the rest of the way back to Andy's place. He was waiting outside. "There you are," he said, and pulled me in for a game session. His dad stopped us in the hallway first "Steve, how's the studying going? Is Andy actually doing anything with baseball or just showing up to class?" Andy groaned, "Dad, not this again."

We ended up in his room, controllers in hand, while Emily and Aria sat nearby, half-watching, half-talking. I genuinely don't remember what game we were playing. Andy kept telling me I was playing terribly, and he wasn't wrong my eyes kept drifting to one spot in the room and staying there. I could feel her doing the same, glancing over every so often, never quite directly. Maybe we were both too young to be obvious about it. Maybe everyone's like that at some point.

Then Andy's mom appeared in the doorway. "Aria, your parents are waiting downstairs." Just like that, the moment shifted. She got up without a word, and as she left the room, she turned back once just for a second and something about her expression told me she felt it too.

Andy went to walk her out. I stood by the window in his room, cold air pouring in, but I barely felt it. I watched her say her goodbyes below, get closer to the car, and just before she got in, she looked up right at the window. For a second, I swear I saw something in her eyes that matched whatever was in mine.

Then she smiled, small and quick, and got in the car.

The evening suddenly felt a lot darker than it should have. I told Andy I wasn't feeling well and headed home, the cold finally catching up to me somewhere on the walk back. Mom asked where I'd been all day. I told her I'd already eaten at Andy's and went straight to my room.

That night, lying in bed, I couldn't stop thinking about her her voice, the way she smiled, even the smell of the air near her. It followed me for two days straight. I couldn't concentrate on studying, couldn't really talk to Andy properly, couldn't even hold a normal conversation with my mom. I just existed somewhere outside myself.

There was this strange emptiness that had settled in like something was missing that I hadn't even known I needed until now. I'd sit outside for hours, watching people pass by, watching the sun go down, looking for the moon at night. Time just moved like that, slow and hollow.

Then, two nights later, I was lying there with music playing one particular song that made everything feel a little softer, made thinking about her feel less painful and more like something to hold onto. My phone buzzed. I picked it up without really thinking, opened the messenger app out of habit.

And that turned into the best night of my life.

It was a message request. From Aria.

I sat up so fast I nearly fell off the bed. For a second I didn't even process it like my brain refused to believe it was real. Was this actually happening? Had she actually reached out first?

I don't know how long I sat there just staring at her name on the screen. Long enough that I eventually got up and started pacing my room, grinning like an idiot, entirely too happy for someone who hadn't even opened the message yet.

That night changed everything.

But it was only the beginning.

Chapter 3 is coming soon this is where things really start to shift.
