Chapter 1

In the 1950s, Sumit Kumar was India's most well-known detective. His family consisted of his wife, Kaushalya Devi, and their eight-year-old daughter, Nanda, whom he loved more than his own life. Their life was filled with happiness, and by God's grace, they had plenty of money and a luxurious bungalow.

One evening, after finishing his work, Sumit took his daughter out for a stroll and bought her some ice cream. It was 8:00 PM, and as Sumit was walking out with Nanda after getting her ice cream, he realized twenty minutes later that he had left his wallet at the shop. He told Nanda to stay right there while he went back to get it. Nanda had finished her ice cream and was waiting for Sumit when suddenly she saw some stray dogs coming toward her. Terrified, she ran away and hid inside a truck. But just as the dogs left and she was about to climb out of the truck, two men got in, and the truck started moving.

TopazHorizon: What a sweet love story! I loved all the little stories from their childhood and teenhood. It really gave depth to their very fast love story. It made sense! I love how their parents were part of the story, too. I love how Theo is so gentle with her, like she's fragile... And yet so bossy in bed hah...
