A story yet to begin
Love....What is love defined as? Love isn't just a bed of roses, beautiful and filled with butterflies. Some love has been tested by fire. I bear witness to a love tested and shaken by fire, one whom all thought was forbidden...or should I say cursed.
TEN YEARS AGO
"Sienna...come and help me." Lilian, my best friend who I call Lily, my-soon-to be flatmate called from outside by the cab. We've been friends since sixth form, then I was still new to the country. It was exciting to be getting into the same university with my best friend.
Hawthorne University is one of the best universities, not just in London but worldwide. I would be studying Psychology while Lily was going to study Mathematics. Mathematics??? Yes, i know how that sounds to the ear. Why on earth would anyone want to study that, Lily wants to be like her father who was a professor of mathematics.
After bringing our bags inside, we sat lazily in the dining room having tea. "I'm glad we don't have to live on campus." Lily said. "So true, just me and you, 5 kilometers away from school." I laughed. "Dreams do come true, Hawthorne University, living off campus. Babe I can't wait to graduate." Lily added. "Girl we just got here, keep it slow." I told her. "Not at all, remember dreams come true." She said. "Yes indeed, My parent are so proud of me. Everyone in our family back in Nigeria knows that I got into Hawthorne." I sighed.
By evening, we were both well rested and prepared to attend the welcome party.
"Lily...its been forever since you stood by the mirror." I yelled. "It's okay to look pretty." She responded. "I will be leaving anytime soon." I warned. I'm here, Jeremy's text read. "Lily, my cousin Jeremy is here." I said as I walked to the door.
Jeremy is my cousin from my paternal side. He was a year two student at Hawthorne University, he was also studying mathematics. Jeremy has always been a nerd so I wasn't shocked he wanted to study Mathematics. He was driving us to the welcome party, he lived on the next street.
"Lily, this is Jeremy. Jeremy this is Lily." I introduced. "Nice to meet you. I've heard alot about you. Sienna told me that you study mathematics, same as me. It's a pleasure to meet you." Lily said. "Same here." Jeremy responded offering her a handshake. "Can we go now." I said trying hard not to roll my eyes. "Yesss!!" Lily exclaimed making a funny face at me.
The welcome party was great, I had the opportunity to talk to some people. I was really carried away by the wonderful celebration. Oh how I wish this wouldn't end. Monday was going to be hectic I guessed. Well all i wanted was a successful semester.
Jeremy also brought us back home after the party. He is indeed a nice cousin. Well Jeremy has never been selfish, he was always willing to help. Oh my poor Jeremy, how i love you.
"Good night ladies. See you on monday." Jeremy said as we got out of the car. "Yeah, till then bye." I waved, before he drove off. Lily was already inside before Jeremy drove off.
1 am, well I didn't care. I just wanted to write down a few words in my journal.
Today marks a beautiful beginning in my life, got to my new flat in Hawthorne with my best friend. I don't think I would forget today especially the welcome party. Words can't describe how I feel, although it's late right now I'm still very much awake, dreaming about my beautiful future...
Well that's me, i enjoy keeping journal. Goodness i can hear Lily's snore from her room, maybe she's tired. Well goodnight, I turned off my room light and drifted off to sleep...
