Chapter 1~ Mr Daemon

Anne walked into the club staring at the scene before her. Red and blue lights flashed around, bodies rocked against each other on the dance floor and the standing poles had ladies in scanty clothing  moving on each one seductively , trying to entertain the men sitted before them. They weren't ordinary men, these people were mafia lords and their high ranked men. Some were sitted in couches with ladies on their laps and cigarettes in their mouth. The music wasn't loud but it wasn't low either. She couldn't wait to get out of this place. It reminded her of the brothel her mother used to work in. She took in a slow breath and walked to the bar counter where the bartender expertly mixed drinks while attending to patrons waiting for their drinks.

It wasn't exactly crowded so there was an empty bar stool directly in front of the bartender which she sat on. The handsome bartender who looked a few years older than her smiled at her as soon as she took her seat.

She smiled back coquettishly and batted her lashes at him in an obvious attempt to flirt with him.

"Such a beautiful sight I'm blessed with this evening. It's not everytime an angel walks in." He said smoothly while mixing drinks then he placed it in front of a man two seats away from her right side. He stood in front of her again to continue the conversation. He was really such a handsome man with his dyed platinum blonde hair which had streaks of red, eyes so blue it reminded you of the sea, his lashes looked long too. His jaw was so sharp she wondered if it could cut diamond. The color of his lips rested on the borderline between red and pink. He looked cute actually, but Anne wasn't moved.

Anne was used to these kind of compliments. She had come across so many men who showered her with sugarcoated words. They either wanted a one night stand with her or a relationship, but she declined every single one of them. To her, everything was business and  feelings were not necessary.

" I'm here to enjoy the night." She replied putting on a shy facade. It was all an act to get answers out of him.

"I bet I can make your night memorable if you'll allow me" He winked at her with the corner of his lips curling into a smirk.

She bit her lip softly and lowered her lashes, then slowly she lifted her lashes and locked her green eyes on him.

"I don't think you could handle me." Her lips curved into a smile but the bartender wasn't going to give up.

"We'll see about that. What drink would you like to have?. It's on the house"

Anne hated alcohol, it reminded her of the times her mother will walk around the brothel drunk and men often abused her . For the sake of the mission, she ordered for something she could stomach.

"A sex on the beach please." She drums her fingers slightly on the silver counter, the bartender smiled even wider at her reply as if she had shown him the way to heaven.

"Excellent choice." He grabbed bottles from the shelf behind him and began mixing drinks, then he poured it into a glass of ice, he adds a straw, a slice of orange at the edge of the glass, and a maraschino cherry.

Anne collects the drink and takes a sip. The taste spread across her tongue. It tasted more fruity than alcoholic.

" The offer still stands pretty, I'm up for making your night unforgettable. It's almost time for the end of my shift anyways. " He had such a charming smile, she could bet he threw this same lines and smile at every pretty lady that walked into this bar and expected them to fall at his feet.

He places his palms on the counter and stared into her green eyes. He usually came across redheads but this lady before him was too beautiful. Her red hair and green eyes gave her a fairy-like look. She looked nothing short of an angel. He could notice various men staring at her from various corners of the club but none of them were courageous enough to approach her. She could belong to a mafia lord, so they didn't dare. And she looked too beautiful for a place like this.

"Actually I'm here to see Mr. Daemon, he asked me to come to this club." As soon as the name crossed Anne's lips, the bartender's expression changed. He frowned slightly and was close to looking pale.

"Why would you be looking for a man like that pretty?" He wanted to tell Anne about how dangerous he was, uttering him name alone carelessly could get her killed. But she had said he asked her to come to this club, all the time Mr. Daemon had walked into this club, he always came in alone and left alone. So how in heaven's name did she come across him?

Anne on the other hand wondered why the bartender suddenly looked like he had seen a ghost. She had only asked about a man and yet he was looking like she had asked about the devil himself.

"He asked me to come to this club today." She replied and the bartender closed his eyes, took a deep breath and opened his eyes again. He couldn't understand why this lady was searching for a man like Mr. Daemon. It was like searching for death itself.

"Listen.... Mr. Daemon isn't someone you should be searching for. No one searches for him, instead he finds people. Stop trying to find him, whatever you want out of your meeting with him isn't worth it" The bartender looked serious, too serious actually. He was trying to talk Anne out of trying to find the man. He was not a mafia lord but even the top mafia leaders feared him. His name spelt doom for anyone.

"So you're saying he's not here?" The bartender looked taken aback.

" Didn't you hear a word I just said?. Why are you so hell-bent on finding him?" He couldn't understand why this lady was so stubborn. He was clearly  trying to save her life but it seems as though she didn't want to be saved. She was just stubborn.

"He asked me to meet him here, so I need to find him. " Anne was on a mission and she wouldn't let anyone talk her out of it. She was this close to earning her boss's trust. If she fulfilled this mission successfully, then she could finally become his right hand man and start to plot her revenge scheme. She had come too far to just step back now.

"Fine..." The bartender surrended then he bent on the counter and began to whisper. ".... he's sitted in the VVIP section, but he must be on his way out by now, if you're lucky enough you'll catch him in time."

Or rather unlucky.... The bartender thought to himself.

"Thanks for the info." Anne said with a smile, sipping the last of the drink. She got off the stool ready to hunt down this Mr. Daemon.

"Wait! my name's Callum by the way. What's yours pretty?"

" Ruby" She lied with a sweet smile, it has become a habit now. She could never hand out her real name to strangers.

"It was nice meeting you Ruby, can I have your contact?" He looked expectant as he asked.

" When next we meet, I'll give you my contact."  She blew him a kiss and walked towards the exit of the club. She definitely won't be allowed into the VVIP section of the club, although she could easily seduce this Mr. Daemon and lure him to a place where she  could could finish him off but from the way the bartender spoke about him, he didn't sound like someone that was easy to kill.

As soon as she walked out of the club and headed into the dark alley beside it, suddenly a hand stretched out of the dark , it roughly grabbed her by the arm and pushed  her to the wall instantly pinning her to it.
