raphaelle, vit depuis toujours recluse au sommet d’un manoir gothique, dans une tour sans sortie intérieure. Le monde, elle ne le connaît qu’à travers les récits de Dr Elena Gothel, psychologue des traumatismes qui l’a recueillie bébé et se présente comme sa mère, son seul lien, sa seule vérité. Gothel lui répète que dehors, les hommes enlèvent les femmes, les villes sont criminelles, les policiers corrompus, que personne ne pourrait l’aimer et qu’elle est trop fragile pour survivre seule. Ses cheveux, extrêmement longs, deviennent un rituel d’emprise autant qu’un symbole de beauté qu’elle ne sait pas voir. Un jour, un homme l’entend chanter : Alexander Voss, propriétaire immobilier froid et calculateur, lié à Gothel par une disparition mystérieuse. Il ne découvre pas la tour par hasard, il la cherchait déjà. Entre eux s’ouvre une relation à distance, teintée de manipulation, de fascination et de danger. Prise entre l’emprise maternelle et les avances d’Alexander, Raph commence à douter de l’histoire qu’on lui a imposée, à explorer la frontière entre protection et prison, désir et possession… jusqu’au moment où la véritable question n’est plus : "Qui viendra la sauver ?" mais "Que fera-t-elle du pouvoir de se sauver elle-même ?"
