Chapter 1
Leo
I’ve been watching, waiting for the day I can get my revenge against the man who tortured and killed my sister. Killing her wasn’t enough for him, he sent her body back to us in pieces. IN FUCKING PIECES!!!
It was my birthday party, I had just turned ten. There was a giant box, no gift tag, no card. Dad told me to go ahead and open it, so I unwrapped it, and opened the box. The scream that came from me as I saw my sister’s head, then realized she was chopped into pieces… That sound still haunts me to this day. He wrapped her up and sent her to us as a damn birthday present for me.
When my father learned it was Joe that killed Delia, he lost it. He was my father’s best friend. That made the betrayal even worse. Joe blamed my sister for helping his wife leave him and run away with his newborn daughter. I can’t say I blame her, especially after what he did to my sister. He had to be a piece of shit husband. But then he ran like a damn coward.
I know he’s close by. I know where his wife and daughter are. I’ll be damned if I change my plans now. That beautiful daughter of his is mine. I can’t wait to ruin her.
Lindsay
Growing up, I never understood why my mother and I moved around so much. Why we never stayed in the same place very long. It wasn’t until I was in high school that we even stayed in the same school district.
Now that I’m graduating high school, my mother is trying to convince me to move away with her, yet again. But I’m so tired of moving around. I just want to find somewhere and settle down. I want a place to call home. Is that so wrong? I’ve never even had real friends. I never saw the point in making friends if I was just going to have to pick up and leave at the whim of my mother.
Since my graduation is tomorrow, my mother took me out for dinner tonight. A rarity for her, she doesn’t like being in public. But she isn’t letting up on leaving town. She sets her drink on the table, “I’m leaving as soon as you walk across that stage tomorrow, Lindsay, I really think you should come with me.”
“Mom, please. Please just tell me why we need to move, or please tell me why we have moved so many times, please mom, please make me understand.”
She looks around the restaurant and shakes her head as she whispers, “your father is a very bad man, his enemies are out there, he’s still out there. You won’t be safe if you stay here, neither of us are safe.”
I don’t know what to think or how to believe what she is telling me, but I can’t keep living like this. “Mom, I’m sorry, but I can’t live my life like this anymore. I just can’t.”
The rest of dinner was quiet, I knew she wasn’t going to accept that I wanted more, that I was tired of running. I don’t know how she wasn’t.
Leo
I followed Cindy and Lindsay to dinner. It was out of their normal pattern, I’ve been close by watching them for the last few weeks. They didn’t eat out, and if they did, it was a drive-thru and taking it home to eat. Eating out at a restaurant had me intrigued. I got a table close by. I don’t know how Cindy didn’t see me. She has to remember my face. Lindsay is fucking gorgeous, I can’t wait to get my hands on her and destroy her.
Lindsay really should have listened to her mother, but even if she had, it’s too late for her now. I’ve laid my eyes on her and now that I have… I have a debt to repay. Return Joe’s daughter to him the way he returned my sister to us. She is going to pay for her father’s sins.
I could grab her now as she leaves the restaurant but I’ll give her tomorrow. Let her think she is finally getting something in her fucked up life. Once she walks across that stage, she belongs to me.
I followed them home. I told myself I would stay in my car and just watch but when I see her mom sneak out in the middle of the night, abandoning her daughter… Well… I couldn’t help but take advantage of the situation.
After I watched her mother drive away, I grabbed my black mask from the passenger seat and sneaked into the house.
