Summary

THE SHADES OF TOXIC OBSESSION He was darkness. She was the light he should have stayed away from. Esha Kapoor only wanted one thing—a quiet life. After a painful past, she leaves everything behind and begins a new chapter at a university in Rome, hoping that maybe this time, life will be kinder to her. She was wrong. Because somewhere in the shadows is Kellan Roman. A ruthless Trillionaire. A powerful man with a beautiful face and a soul built from darkness. A man who doesn't believe in love, mercy, or second chances. Until he sees her. Esha becomes his obsession. At first, she doesn't understand the strange eyes following her. The unexplained fear surrounding her. The feeling that someone is always watching. Then she realizes the truth— Kellan isn't watching her from the shadows anymore. He's stepping into her life. He doesn't want to love her. He wants to possess her. He wants to become the only person she can run to… and the only person she can never escape. But Esha is not the fragile little girl he thinks she is. Behind her softness lies a past filled with wounds, secrets, and a strength even she doesn't know she possesses. And the more Kellan tries to pull her into his darkness, the more something inside him begins to change. Because what happens when a man who knows only destruction finally finds something he desperately wants to protect? What happens when obsession begins to feel like love? And what happens when the monster realizes… the one person he wanted to destroy is the one person capable of destroying him? This isn't a love story. It's a story about power, trauma, obsession, darkness, and the thin line between possessing someone and truly loving them. Because some obsessions fade. Some disappear. But some… consume everything they touch. Welcome to— THE SHADES OF TOXIC OBSESSION Where his darkness meets her light… and neither of them survives unchanged.

Prologue

Isn't it beautiful?

When someone wants you like oxygen…

so badly that breathing without you feels impossible.

When someone looks at you like you're the only thing left in their world.

When someone touches you with such possessiveness that you slowly forget where you end…

and where they begin.

Isn't it beautiful when someone erases your name from the world?

Your friends.

Your family.

Your past.

Everything.

Until one day, you're standing inside their cage, staring at the mirror… and you can't even remember who you were before them.

And they smile at you.

Call it love.

Call it protection.

Call it devotion.

But what happens when love starts hurting? When punishment becomes a language?

When someone doesn't kill the people who hurt you because death would be mercy…

and mercy is the one thing they refuse to give?

What happens when they make you watch?

When they force you to see what they're capable of?

When their cruelty becomes proof of how much they claim to love you?

People hear the word obsession and imagine flowers, desperate messages, stolen glances, someone who simply can't stay away.

I used to think the same.

Until I saw the other side. The side nobody talks about. The side where obsession doesn't whisper—

it controls.

It doesn't hold your hand—

it holds your throat Enough to Kill You

It doesn't protect your freedom—

it takes it away and Crush beneath feet

And the worst part?

The monster doesn't believe he's hurting you.

He believes he's loving you.

That's when I stopped calling it obsession.

Because some kinds of love don't deserve that beautiful name.

Some kinds of love are nothing but a beautiful word wrapped around a nightmare.

And that nightmare has a name.

Toxic Obsession

The storm raged through the dark forest. Rain lashed against the trees, and thunder shattered the silence again and again. Yet between those violent sounds, there was another presence — something unseen.

Fear

A girl, no older than twenty-two, stumbled through the mud. Her clothes hung torn and soaked, clinging to her trembling body. Her skin was carved with brutal marks, long and cruel — belt wounds, as if someone had beaten her again and again, stopping just short of death.

She tried to run, But her body betrayed her. She wasn’t running anymore, she was crawling. Blood dripped from her left hand. One finger was horribly damaged, the skin burned and torn, as if someone had tried to cut it off and failed. Still, she dragged herself forward, using only one leg, her breath breaking with every movement.

Her injured foot suddenly gave way.

She fell.

Her palms hit the cold mud. A broken cry escaped her throat. She tried to push herself up. Her arms shook.

Nothing. She had nothing left. Slowly, she turned her head. Her eyes searched the darkness behind her.

Nothing.

No one.

Her breathing stopped. That was the worst part. She would have preferred footsteps. A scream,  Anything, Because silence meant he was close. Her lips trembled. "N–No…"

She slowly turned forward - And froze.

He was there.

Standing only a few feet away.

Waiting.

The lightning flashed again, briefly revealing his silhouette.

The girl immediately lowered her gaze. She couldn't look at him.

Couldn't.

Her body moved backward instinctively.

The man didn't answer. He simply walked toward her.

One step.

Then another.

Slow.

Unhurried.

Like he already knew how this would end. He lowered himself onto one knee in front of her.

The girl trembled violently.

His hand lifted. He gently moved the wet hair away from her face. That softness terrified her more than anger ever could and that was when she dared to look. And that… was her greatest mistake. A powerful punch slammed into her stomach.

The impact stole the air from her lungs as a scream burst from her throat. Blood spilled from her mouth, warm and metallic, staining the ground beneath her.

"Pl–Please.... So–Sorry…"

He looked at her for a moment, Then his fingers moved down toward her injured foot. She immediately tried to pull it away.

His hand caught her ankle. He pulled her closer. Her nails dug into the mud.

"I told you what would happen if you disobeyed me... you’ll lose a part of yourself…"

She shook her head desperately.

He glanced at her injured toes. Then back at her face.

Her tears fell faster.

"No...No....No.... Please"

He reached inside his hoodie. The girl stopped breathing, When his hand came back out —

a knife rested between his fingers.

Her eyes widened. She began crawling backward. She stared at the blade. The storm seemed to disappear. The forest went silent.

Even her own breathing vanished.

The man raised the knife And the blade came down —

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Blood comes – Her eyes fluttered, half-closed now her body surrendering, drifting toward death. And the last thing she saw was —

SIN

The greatest sin of all.

A monster hiding behind a human face stood towering over her. There was no mercy in those eyes. No hesitation. No humanity.

Only Anger

Only Hatred

And a deep, Toxic obsession

an obsession so violent it could burn the entire world to ashes for one desire… or one person.

This was not love.

This was a brutal obsession.

An obsession that destroys everything it touches—through hate, through darkness.
