Chapter 1
Keagan
A couple months ago my boyfriend and I moved a couple hours away from our hometown so I could accept a new job. He works remotely but does some traveling for work. The move didn’t affect him but it’s taking a toll on me. The new job isn’t bad, but I’m missing my best friend. We grew up in a small town. We were always together. I hadn’t realized how hard it was going to be not being able to see her every day. We talk every day but it’s not the same.
I get home from work, make dinner, then Dave pulls me into his lap, holding me in his arms. “Baby, please talk to me, what’s going on?”
I cry in his arms, “I miss her.”
He kisses my head, “Baby, we can move back, you don’t have to work. You don’t have to put yourself through this. We have plenty.”
“But it’s not fair for you to have to handle everything financially. I want to help.”
“Love, we have plenty. What’s mine is yours. I promise I could never hold that against you. But I will not sit by and watch you lose yourself because you think you need to do this. You need your best friend.”
I lay in his arms, letting him comfort me. “I hadn’t realized how hard it would be to be away from her.”
“Bradley and I have a few days before we have to head out for our next business trip. Why don’t I see if they can come help us pack up and get you girls back home before we leave. I can’t leave you alone like this.”
“Where will we stay?”
He smiles, “With Bradley and Callie.”
Before I can say anything the doorbell rings. “Who could that be?”
The smirk on his face, “I don’t know babe, why don’t you go find out.”
I get myself together and answer the door. To my surprise it’s Bradley and Callie. Callie pulls me in for a hug, “I hear we have some packing to do.”
I turn to Dave, “You already called them? How?”
“I know you baby.” He gives me a kiss, “I already talked to your boss as well, they’ve agreed you don’t have to work out your last two weeks. But next time something is wrong, you need to tell me. I don’t mind taking care of things for you, but I do need you to verbalize your needs.”
“Thank you.”
Dave
I knew my love was hurting. I know she has feelings for Callie, she just can’t vocalize them yet. Hopefully moving in with Callie and Bradley will help. Working so closely with Bradley, I can’t say there aren’t any feelings there either. It felt wrong for the four of us to be apart.
We get everything packed and loaded overnight. Bradley and I drive our trucks back home, while we let the girls drive the SUV together. Letting them have their time together. I can’t wait to get home. The only reason I even agreed to leave in the first place was because Keagan really wanted that job. And well, I’d do anything for her. Anything.
Callie
Keagan’s quieter than usual. I reach over holding her hand. She bites her lip. “Everything okay?”
She sighs, “yeah.”
I give her hand a squeeze, “You know we are all here for you, love.”
She squeezes my hand back, “I know, I’m working through it in my head, I promise I’m okay.”
She doesn’t move her hand from mine until we get home. I don’t know how we get here before the guys but we do. We get out and stretch, then sit on the porch steps waiting for them. Keagan lays her head on my shoulder. “I missed you.”
I reach for her hand, locking my fingers with hers, “I missed you too.”
It’s not long before both trucks pull up. Dave and Bradley both getting out with bags of food. Bradley gives me a kiss, “thought you might be hungry.”
Keagan laughs, “You guys are the best.”
Bradley and Dave move all the heavy stuff while Keagan and I start working on getting the small stuff put away. They know if we don’t do it now, Keagan and I will do it while they are out of town.
Once we are finished for the day we crash on the couch. I finish my beer and get a crazy idea. Since none of us seem to be able to say the words outloud… “Let’s play a game.”
Keagan grins, “What kind of game?”
I spin my bottle on the coffee table. “Spin the bottle.”
Bradley
I don’t know if this is a good idea or a bad idea. We could be destroying our friendship. But at the same time, this could be the beginning of something amazing… “I’m in.”
Callie spins first. It lands on Keagan. Callie leans over, brushing the hair from Keagan’s face and kisses her. They don’t break the kiss until they need air. Still forehead to forehead panting as they catch their breath. Callie gives Keagan another kiss then passes the bottle to me.
I spin, it lands on Dave. I move closer. I pause. He leans in, kissing me first. Fuck did his kiss make me feel something. As I pull back, Keagan stands up. I thought she was going to leave the room. Instead she sits in my lap and kisses me.
Callie moves beside Dave, she gives him a kiss then turns to Keagan. “See love, we all love each other. Being away from you, it made us realize we are all more than friends. I don’t know what that is, but we deserve to see where it goes. If you aren’t ready, we can take it slow.”
“I… I want to see where this goes, but I’m scared. People were already talking about us. What are they going to say now?”
Dave takes her hand. “Let um talk baby. What they say doesn’t matter. All that matters is the four of us. I can’t watch you lose yourself. These last few months have been hell watching you suffer.”
She whispers, “I want this, I want all of you.”
I give her a kiss, “Good, because we want you too.”
Keagan
I hope I’m not dreaming. Bradley kisses the top of my head. “We will take this slow, I promise.”
The four of us cuddle on the couch as we start the next movie. Callie and I move to the middle, curling up together. She places her hand on mine. I lock my fingers with hers, laying my head on her shoulder. She plants kisses on the top of my head.
Everyone else has fallen asleep on the couch. I’m too anxious to sleep. I slowly get up off the couch, trying not to wake anyone and make my way to the kitchen. I was going to get tea but I see the bottle of whiskey and grab that instead.
I sit down at the table staring at it. It doesn’t take long before I give in. I don’t even get a glass. I start drinking straight from the bottle. I don’t know how long it is before Callie finds me. I’m drunk off my ass.
Somehow she manages to get me upstairs without waking the guys. She lays down beside me. I cuddle into her arms. I cry as she holds me tight. “What’s going on, love?”
“I’m scared.”
“Of what baby?”
I finally tell the truth, “My parents.”
She kisses my forehead, “What about your parents, baby?”
I brush my finger over Callie’s lip, “They… they don’t like you.”
“I mean… I had a feeling…”
I lean in closer. “They knew I liked you before I knew… It’s why they would never let you come over or why I wasn’t allowed to spend the night at your house.”
“Oh, Keagan.” She hugs me tighter. “I’m so sorry.”
“It wasn’t your fault. I just… I don’t know how they are going to react. What if they disown me? What if they say they don’t want me anymore just because I love all of you?”
Callie
No wonder Keagan accepted that job… She thought distance would help. I knew her parents hated me but to hate me just because their daughter had feelings for me. That’s messed up.
I give Keagan a kiss, “I know this is scary. I know you love your parents. I can see it in your eyes, you love us too. We could never make you choose love. But you do deserve to be happy. What makes you happy?”
She squeezes my hand. “You… the four of us… That’s what makes me happy. I was miserable without you.”
“Then we take it day by day, love. We do this on our terms. If you need more time before we show affection in public, there’s nothing wrong with that baby. It’s going to take time. But what is important is that you talk to us. No more sneaking away and drinking like this.”
She cries in my arms. “I know… It was stupid. I already feel like shit.”
I kiss the top of her head. “Shhh… rest now love.”
It doesn’t take long for her to pass out. Dave and Bradley make their way upstairs. Dave gets in bed behind Keagan, “I was wondering where she went. How much did she drink?”
“Enough, but let her sleep, we can talk about it in the morning. She said enough for me to understand what’s going on.”
He leans over and kisses me, “Thank you.”
Bradley wraps his arms around me, “good night loves.”
“Goodnight.”
