Chapter 1 - My Ended Life

Once upon a century, there was a girl.

Her name is Cordelia Fall. She is the daughter of Michelle and Arnold Fall. As far as she's concerned, her Father had never loved her, simply because she's a girl. He wanted a boy. He never truly loved her Mother either, as he kept cheating on her, eventually choosing another woman over them and abandoning them when she was ever so young at only the age of two.

She doesn't have any memory of talking to her Father since then, nor does she know any news from him. But even if their life was hard and Arnold had already flown to another country, her Mother continued to raise her alone. They continued living in Russia, where they adjusted with their lives. Now, Cordelia is three years old and had just been enrolled to nursery.

In the home of the Falls, Michelle was preparing her three-year-old daughter for school. Nursery. She looked over her shoulder to speak to her child, smiling a bit.

"Pack your things, Cordelia. I'm sending you off to school." Michelle muttered.

Cordelia, now three years old, stood straight in front of Michelle. Her face wasn't smiling, her eyes weren't happy, she was depressed. Ever since her Father had left her, she noticed that he never called home again and so she became mute because of her pain and longing to hear her Daddy's voice again.

Michelle noticed this. Her daughter has been mute for over a year now and she hated it. Michelle clutched her bag as she yelled at Cordelia. "I said pack your things, Cordelia!"

Cordelia finally sunk in her Mother's words and nodded, preparing her backpack. Of course, she was still small and developing so she had a hard time preparing everything. After doing so, Michelle held Cordelia's hand and led her way out of the apartment.

Yes. They used to have so much money and live in a subdivision in a big house but since Arnold left, all that was left to them was a cheap apartment. That was when Michelle knew her life still sucked no matter what she did.

And they traveled to nursery school.

At nursery school, Michelle let go of her daughter's hand and waved goodbye to her. "Be nice to your classmates and teacher. And please, just please, for once, speak to someone!" She begged in an annoyed tone.

Cordelia just looked at her Mother and nodded, stepping inside the classroom. On the other hand, Michelle sighed as soon as her daughter was out of her sight, turned around and started walking back to the gate to leave.

Inside the classroom, the room was full of children. They were playing around and laughing, it looked wonderful. For the first time in one year, Cordelia felt a different world. Back at home, everything is so gray and weak. Here at school, everything and everyone looked happy. She was happy.

Then, a woman then opened the door and stepped in, giving a smile to the children.

"Good morning, kids! My name is Jane Anderson and I am your teacher for nursery. Just call me Miss Jane or however you like." Miss Jane said this as an introduction.

While the other kids giggled and ran around, some even ignoring Miss Jane, Cordelia stayed quiet and sat on an empty seat at the corner, staring at the other kids. Miss Jane noticed this and decided to approach the mysteriously behaved kid first before lecturing the others.

She cleared her throat. "Hello there, young one. Your Mommy had told me about you. You're Cordelia, right? And you're only three years old?"

Cordelia, as usual, didn't respond. She just looked down at her lap.

Jane felt a bit awkward at the silent response but she didn't let that get to her. "Ehem... You're only three years old and already here at nursery. Usually, five or six-year-old kids start learning here, like your classmates! You must be a bright child." She complimented.

But Cordelia couldn't speak at all.

There was silence between them for a moment so Miss Jane sighed, giving up and going back to the other children to lecture them appropriately. Perhaps her youngest student just wanted some alone time?
