What makes him dangerous is not simply that he kills.

Summary

The Fifth Thread is a dark mystery-romantic thriller centered on Detective Adrian Vale, 34, one of the city's leading investigators, and Officer Mira Sen, 29, his determined investigative partner. The story begins with an impossible murder. A woman named Evelyn Marrow is found dead inside an abandoned train station—despite official records stating that she died years earlier. What initially seems like an isolated, bizarre crime soon leads Adrian and Mira into a series of increasingly disturbing cases. A psychiatrist is found drowned inside a completely dry, locked office. A young woman apparently dies for the second time. A mysterious man confesses to murders involving people who officially do not exist. And an unidentified body is discovered with impossible evidence suggesting that its very identity has been erased. The deeper they go, the more dangerous the investigation becomes. Mira begins uncovering disturbing gaps in her childhood and realises her identity may not be as certain as she believed. Meanwhile, the relationship between Adrian and Mira grows from professional partnership into something far more complicated. They are drawn toward each other even while the investigation gives them every reason to distrust one another. Someone already knows. And the final question becomes more important than solving the murders: Can Adrian and Mira survive the truth without losing each other?

Hey lovelies, I won't be giving any spoilers in the introduction; go check it out yourself<3. I put a lot of effort into writing this story because mysteries with romantic endings have always been my cup of tea. So enough of my likes and dislikes, haha. I hope you like the story.

She has spent years proving that she is more than “just another officer.”

Her biggest mistake will be falling in love with the one man whose investigation may eventually put both their lives in danger.
