Chapter 1
đź‘» THE HOUSE THAT CALLED MY NAME
Season 1 — Episode 2: The Girl in the Photograph
Maya couldn't breathe.
The little girl stood at the top of the stairs, staring at her.
“My sister?” Maya whispered.
The girl nodded.
“What is your name?”
The girl smiled.
“Lena.”
Maya shook her head.
“My mother never told me I had a sister.”
“She couldn't.”
“Why?”
Lena pointed toward the hallway.
“Because she's still here.”
Maya's heart stopped.
Behind her, something moved.
She turned around.
Nothing.
When she looked back at the stairs, Lena was gone.
“Lena?”
No answer.
Suddenly, Maya heard footsteps coming from the kitchen.
Step…
Step…
Step…
She grabbed the nearest object—a heavy candle holder—and slowly walked toward the sound.
The kitchen was empty.
But the back door was wide open.
Rain blew through the doorway.
On the floor was another photograph.
Maya picked it up.
This time, the picture showed her mother holding two little girls.
Maya.
And Lena.
On the back of the photograph were five words:
“One of them must die.”
Maya dropped it.
Then her phone rang.
It was an unknown number.
She answered.
“Hello?”
For several seconds, there was only breathing.
Then a man's voice whispered:
“Leave the house.”
“Who are you?”
“Your mother knew the truth.”
“What truth?”
The man became silent.
Then he said:
“Lena isn't your sister.”
The call ended.
Maya's hands began shaking.
A child's laughter echoed from upstairs.
She looked toward the staircase.
Lena was standing there again.
But this time, her eyes were completely black.
“You talked to him,” Lena said.
Maya stepped backward.
“Who?”
Lena smiled.
“The man who killed your mother.”
Suddenly, every window in the house slammed shut.
Maya screamed.
Lena slowly pointed behind her.
Maya turned.
A tall shadow stood at the end of the hallway.
It was watching her.
Then the shadow whispered:
“You were never supposed to come back.”
The lights went out.
And when they came back on…
Maya was alone.
But a wet handprint had appeared on the wall beside her.
