THE AUCTION
I had always heard that there were things in this world that humans were never supposed to see.
Monsters.
Creatures that hid in the shadows and fed on blood.
I never believed any of it.
Until the night I became someone's property.
“Move!”
I stumbled forward as a rough hand pushed me from behind.
“Please, slow down.”
Nobody listened.
My wrists were tied tightly behind my back, and my legs were already aching from walking for what felt like hours.
I had no idea where they were taking me.
All I knew was that I had been taken from my home wewks ago.
One minute, I was there.
The next, I was being dragged away by strangers.
I had screamed.
I had fought.
I had begged.
Nothing worked.
Eventually, we stopped in front of a large building.
I looked up at it nervously.
There were people everywhere.
Men and women, all dressed differently, moving around as if this was just another ordinary night.
But something about the place felt wrong.
Very wrong.
I was pushed through the doors.
The moment I stepped inside, I noticed the others.
There were several people sitting and standing around the huge room.
Some looked frightened.
Others looked completely defeated.
I swallowed hard.
“Where are you taking us?”
A girl beside me looked at me with pity.
“You don't know?”
I shook my head.
She looked away.
That frightened me more than anything she could have said.
A loud bell suddenly rang.
Everyone became quiet.
A man stepped onto a raised platform at the front of the room.
He smiled.
“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome.”
My heart began pounding.
“Tonight, we have several rare humans available for purchase.”
My blood ran cold.
Purchase?
I looked around frantically.
“No…”
The girl beside me lowered her head.
I finally understood.
We weren't guests.
We were being sold.
One by one, people were brought forward.
Prices were shouted.
Money exchanged hands.
And each time someone was sold, they were dragged away.
I felt tears gather in my eyes.
Then I heard my name.
I froze.
“Next.”
Two men grabbed my arms.
“No! Please!”
They dragged me toward the platform.
I struggled against them, but they were too strong.
The lights felt painfully bright as I was pushed forward.
The room went silent for a moment.
Then the auctioneer smiled.
“Our next human is a particularly interesting one.”
I stood there trembling.
I had never felt so helpless in my life.
The bidding began.
I didn't even understand what was happening anymore.
I only knew that every number they called meant someone was willing to pay money for me.
Then the room suddenly went silent.
A voice came from the back.
“Five hundred.”
Everyone turned.
Another voice called out.
" One thousand"
" one thousand, and sold " he hit the hammer. I looked around the room looking for my buyer but i couldn't find my buyer.
I was taken to another room amd i was given a bath, for once i felt human. I was taken back to the a auction room and this time is was empty save for the men in black suits standing at the two sides of the room.
I was given a chair in rhe middle of the room and immediately the started comversing amongst themselves.
The door opened, I raised my head from the table and I noticed something every conversation in the room died down immediately.
" Who sold the girl ".
He asked, eyes transfixed on mine while walking towards me. Suddenly his eyes shifted to the pendant on my neck,
" Where fid you get that"
"My mom gave it to me" i said. My head lowered to the floor.
"Kill the auctioneer", I heard him say then he turned to me,
"And kill her too"
