WHEN FATE FOUND THEM

WHEN FATE FOUND THEM

Adrian Thompson never believed in love at first sight.

Not until he met Nurse Fienah.

It happened during a medical mission organized by Fienah's hospital in Adrian's hometown.

Fienah was a fresh graduate nurse, still adjusting to her new life and learning what it meant to care for people beyond the walls of a classroom. Her family wasn't rich, but they had enough, and Fienah had always been grateful for what they had.

That day, Adrian happened to be one of the patients.

As Fienah wrapped the blood pressure cuff around his arm, Adrian couldn't stop looking at her.

She noticed.

"Is there something wrong, sir?"

Adrian quickly looked away.

"Nothing. I was just wondering..."

"Wondering what?"

"If we could be friends."

Fienah raised an eyebrow before laughing.

"I'm everybody's friend. I don't have time to make enemies, so I don't think we'll have a problem with that, sir."

Adrian laughed.

"I'm Adrian Thompson."

"I'm Nurse Fienah. At your service, sir."

Their eyes met again.

And something changed.

Adrian had never felt anything like it.

At that time, Adrian wasn't working. He did some freelancing from time to time and relied heavily on his father's company. Unlike Fienah, who spent her days serving patients and working tirelessly, Adrian had plenty of free time.

During the medical mission, he quietly watched her.

He watched her carry medical supplies.

He watched her comfort frightened patients.

He watched her continue working even when she was exhausted.

And somehow, the more he watched her, the more he admired her.

He wanted to ask for her number.

But he was too shy.

Before he could gather the courage, the medical mission ended.

Fienah and her team left town.

Adrian thought that was the end.

He was wrong.

Instead of forgetting her, he became determined to see her again.

And that determination eventually led him straight to her hospital.

Adrian stood inside the hospital holding a bouquet of flowers.

He had rehearsed what he wanted to say at least a dozen times.

Then he saw her.

Fienah was helping transport a vehicular accident victim covered in blood. She looked exhausted, but she never stopped working.

Adrian immediately understood.

This wasn't the right time.

He quietly placed the flowers beside him and waited.

Eventually, Fienah came out.

"Ma'am?"

She turned.

"Adrian?"

He smiled nervously.

"Yes. It's me."

"Oh, right! You're from the medical mission in our hometown."

"Exactly."

She smiled.

"How are you?"

"I'm good."

"Adrian T... What was the T again?"

"Thompson, Your Honor."

Fienah laughed.

"Okay, Mr. Thompson. I'm fine, but please stop calling me ma'am. You can just call me Fienah."

"I can do that if you stop calling me Mr. Thompson."

"Deal."

Adrian gathered his courage.

"So... what are you doing here?"

He froze.

He couldn't exactly tell her that he had come just to see her.

So he blurted out the first thing that came into his head.

"Actually, where's the pharmacy? I need to buy milk."

"Milk? Is it for your child?"

"No! I mean—I'm not a child!"

Fienah burst out laughing.

"I meant, do you have a child?"

Adrian's face turned red.

"No. It's for my mother."

She pointed toward the elevator.

"The pharmacy is on the first floor."

"Thank you."

She smiled.

"I have a lot of work waiting for me. I'll see you around."

She walked away.

Adrian looked down at the flowers.

He hadn't even given them to her.

He sighed.

If only I had been brave enough to tell her the truth.

But he wasn't giving up.

Not yet.

That night, Adrian sat outside a convenience store with his three brothers, drinking coffee.

His brothers were laughing, but Adrian barely heard them.

His mind was somewhere else.

On Fienah.

She was working hard while he was still unemployed.

He looked down at his coffee.

"What am I supposed to tell her?"

"She's already building her life while I'm still depending on my family."

"How can I make her proud of me?"

Adrian wanted more.

He didn't just want to be the man his family supported.

He wanted to become someone worthy of Fienah.

Someone who could help others.

Someone who could build a life of his own.

He wanted to become a police officer.

Then he saw someone familiar walk into the convenience store.

His heart stopped.

Fienah.

And this time, fate gave him another chance.
