Kagami: The Road to Godhood

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

The gods couldn't control their unlimited desires—so they were banished. Eons ago, the primordial entity Tychon shattered the prehistoric world. He locked the proud in the golden peaks of Heaven and Mount Olympus, buried the savage in the fires of Hell, and left a newborn Earth to sleep in the starlight. Reality was restarted, and a cosmic law of boundaries was set in stone. But laws are made to be broken. Centuries later, a boy is born into the ashes of a world forgotten by the divine. His name is Kagami. He has no legendary army, no grand magic, and no throne. All he has is a shattered highway under his feet and a bloodline tied to the original architect of fortune. In a universe where the ancient gods are scratching at the walls of their domains to break free, Kagami must walk a brutal path of close calls, razor-thin survival, and divine evolution. The era of mortals is ending. The road to godhood has begun.

Chapter Minus: The Fault Beyond Our Stars

Darkness blinds the skies from above.

Heavy clouds seal away the water vapor, withholding life from everything caught between the heavens and the earth, where the soil and plants lie.

Through this wasteland, a single, fractured road cuts through the dead roots—stretching endlessly toward a horizon that has forgotten the sun.

This is the era before mortal flesh, a primeval dawn when the world belonged only to the firstborn.

Gods, Goddesses, and towering half-divine humanoids roam the barren expanse, their massive steps shaking the cracked earth as they seek dominion over a dying realm.

Even the divine are not immune to the slow, heavy decay of a dying world. The brilliant, immortal radiance that once overflowed from their veins has begun to flicker out.

Beneath the unyielding shadows, their skin turns to a cold, ashen gray, matching the lifeless dirt beneath their heels. Driven by a primal desperation, the bond of their divine brotherhood shatters.

They clash blindly in the dark, tearing at one another for a single dropped tear of moisture or a fading spark of residual power. In a realm stripped of life, mercy is the first thing to die.

From the absolute stillness of the fractured road, a presence manifests that makes the warring firstborn freeze in terror. He is Tychon, the primordial architect of fortune, whose mythic bloodline will ripple across eons to a distant descendant named kagami.

Tychon looks upon the squabbling gods with an expression of pure, unadulterated disgust.

"...So this is... how you answer your problems," Tychon's voice echoes, cutting through the chaotic noise of the battlefield like a razor. "Killing each other because it makes your stress levels decrease, making yourself look like a bunch of idiots, it all makes me sick... so here is what we'll do..."

The cosmic air pressure drops as he steps forward, the literal fabric of universal luck bending entirely to his whim.

"I am RESTARTING EVERYTHING and making it all... a RENEWED.... Experience... because, none of you... know how to act, how to treat yourselves with kindness.... the Age of Unlimited Desires... is over."

Raising a single hand towards the blind skies, his universal authority forces the suffocating clouds to tear open—shattering the dying realm into cosmic spheres to birth Heaven, Hell, and Mount Olympus, while scattering the brilliant light of a billion stars across the newborn Kosmos and Gaea.

The Blinding flash of creation forces the warring firstborn into their new domains, sealing them away according to their sins and their virtues. The proud are cast upward, anchoring the golden peaks of Mount Olympus and Heaven, while the most savage are buried beneath the crust to rule the eternal fires of Hell.

The ancient, fractured road is gone, buried deep beneath the soil of a newborn Gaea.

Universal luck has cast its first die, and the world goes quiet—asleep in the starlight, waiting for the eons to turn until the bloodline of fortune wakes up in a boy named Kagami.
