Summary

SYNOPSIS 📦 Notes in the Box ~Synopsis When Daeun was eight years old, she lost everything. Alone and heartbroken, she met a little boy in a park who didn't ask why she was crying. He simply sat beside her, held out his hand, and promised to play with her until she wanted to smile again. His name was Daniel. Eight years later, they meet again in high school. Daeun recognizes him immediately—the boy who unknowingly became her first love and the reason she survived one of the darkest moments of her childhood. But Daniel doesn't remember her. Still, Daeun quietly stays by his side. She leaves sandwiches on his desk, encourages him before auditions, and slips little notes into his hands whenever he needs them. Until one day, she has to leave. Only after she's gone does Daniel realize how much of his life had quietly revolved around her. Years pass. Daniel becomes a successful model surrounded by beautiful people, fame, and opportunities. Yet something—or someone—is still missing. Then he opens an old box. Inside are the notes Daeun once left behind. And suddenly, Daniel remembers the girl from the park. The girl he forgot. The girl he never realized he was already searching for. Some love stories begin with a confession. Theirs begins with a memory.

Prologue

Prologue ~ The Day They Met

When Daeun was only Eight years old, her world shattered.

A tragic house fire took the lives of her parents, leaving her completely alone in the world.

On the painful day of their funeral, consumed by grief, little Daeun ran away to a nearby park.

She sat crying in a lonely corner, feeling like her life was over.

That was when she met a joyful little boy walking around the park.

Noticing her tears, the boy extended a warm, loving hand and invited her to play.

That boy was Daniel.

For an hour, his bright laughter and kindness distracted her from the darkness.

In that moment, Daeun realized something profound: Even though her parents were gone, the earth had not stopped spinning.

She realized she needed to find a way to be happy and keep moving forward, if only to live for the sake of her parents’ memories.

Before Daniel left with his parents, the two children exchanged names.

Daniel: “I’m Daniel.”

The little girl wiped her tears.

Daeun: “I’m Daeun.”

Daniel smiled.

Daniel: “Then we’re friends now.”

And for the first time since losing her parents...

Daeun smiled.

She didn’t know it yet, but the boy who had reached out his hand that day would become one of the most important people in her life.
