Chapter 1 (introduction)

Asterin de Romania had always known that her hands could heal.

It was a gift she had possessed for as long as she could remember. Pain, wounds, sickness—her ability could ease them all.

But that night, something changed.

She had just finished healing someone when an unfamiliar sensation passed through her.

It wasn't her pain.

It wasn't her memory.

It wasn't hers at all.

Snow.

A battlefield buried beneath white.

The distant sound of monsters.

And then—

A black leopard.

Its eyes were fixed upon her.

Behind it stood a man.

Tall.

Muscular.

Black hair falling against his face.

Red eyes that seemed almost inhuman.

Asterin couldn't move.

She didn't know him.

She had never seen him before.

Yet somehow, she could feel that something had connected them.

Then the vision disappeared.

Asterin stood frozen, staring at her own hands.

Far away, in the North, Dravion de Valtz opened his eyes.

He had experienced the same thing.

A girl.

Brown hair.

Green eyes.

He didn't know her.

He didn't understand what had happened.

And he felt no emotion toward her.

Dravion simply remained seated in silence.

For the first time, his ability had reacted to another person's existence.

His expression did not change.

After a long silence, he finally spoke.

“Find her.”
