Wonderful tale
"Loved it and wanted more... and I'm not a fan of fables and fiction! This is a great beginning to a series of tales. I wanted more about Rhian. About her grandfather, her mother, and her father. I want to know what comes next. Although the title seems pretty dark and foreboding, I think the author balanced the darkness with wisps of light, illuminating the way ahead. Great introduction to a character and a story that I hope will continue."

Good Introduction
"Good introduction to a character and a environment, with a potentially traumatic event as a plot device. A short story makes it difficult to elaborate or develop certain aspects of a story, though this story did the right thing and developed the relationship between daughter and father in the right proportion. Hopefully this story will be expanded, and more time will be spent on the relationship, as it is this stress which drives the main character to contemplate drastic measures to escape her environment."

"I was drawn in quickly to the plot and it made me want to read more. From what I read, I could tell there was going to be some depth to the rest of the story, and I like that. The writing flowed well and it was easy to picture what was happening and get wrapped up in the story."

"The story pulled me in immediately as it made me curious. AS I continued to read the story it pulled me in even further as it was amazing how the writer through her writing go me so connected to the main character so quickly. Through the writer's words I was able to connect deeply with the main character and the pain that she felt. The writer also had an amazing ability to make me feel like I was in the story through her descriptive words."
Just in time
"Who hasn't wished for a magical intervention? "To Live or To Die' captures that despair and provides a resolution as beautiful as that in any tale of one who is lost and found. I suspect the elegance of the writing is the result of many bits of work still hidden. The author's ability to tap into that universal angst so quickly and clearly makes me wish for a sequel. Who knows? Will we see one? While this stands well as a short story, it would be an excellent introduction to a serial, as well."
A fairy tale with a contemporary undertone
"This is a truly inspiring short story, using the classic idea of pixies and nymphs in a rather surprising way. The angst and solitute of a young girl, right at the verge of adolescence who cannot seem to find a common ground with her estranged father are shown in a fairy-tale style, but yet the story seems to have a very contemporary meaning. The style is fluent and consistently dreamy, but the true meaning of the story is build so as to be revealed layer after layer to the reader, making it a fascinating piece. I thoroughly enjoyed it!"
