Summary

So here's where I'm at. I put fifty points into Charm at one in the morning because it was the only stat with a sparkle animation and the wine said yes. Now I'm in a marsh. MAX difficulty. Level 1 in everything except Charm, which is 99, which is an "anomaly," which the system will not let me fix. No logout. No reset. The tutorial quest was to satisfy the first thing that found me, and I did, and it charged me four hit points for the trouble. Oh โ€” and I've apparently been here before. Welcome back, Zelia. Great. Love that. Getting home is going to be very, very hands-on. CW: non-con / NC, monster partners, a system with opinions

Chapter One: First Contact

The character creation screen gave me fifty points and a menu of stats.๏ปฟ

Strength looked like homework.

Defense looked like homework.

Agility looked like homework with extra steps.

Charm had a little sparkle animation next to it and a tooltip that just said [REDACTED], so at one in the morning, with a beta key and a glass of wine, I did the obvious thing.

All fifty points into Charm.

Name: ZELIA.

START.

The starter village lasted four minutes. Every male NPC inside aggro radius turned toward me at the same time, the way flowers turn toward a very specific sun. The gate captain abandoned his post. The blacksmith dropped a hammer on his own foot and didnโ€™t notice. The tutorial fairy screamed a word Iโ€™d never heard before and crashed the whole UI. I logged out, told the launcher exactly where it could put its immersion, and went to sleep furious.

I woke up standing in a marsh.

Not woke up. Came to. There was no bed under me, no ceiling, no phone alarm. There was mud gripping my boots to the ankle and a smell like Godโ€™s compost heap, sweet rot and sour water, thick enough to chew. The light came down dim and green-grey through a canopy of trees that had been drowning for decades.

Off to my left, gas bubbles popped on the surface of black water. One. Then another. The air sat warm and wet against my bare forearms, and I could feel all of it, the humidity settling on my skin like somebodyโ€™s slow exhale. I pressed my thumbnail into my palm until it stung. The marsh stayed exactly where it was.

โ€œThis is fine,โ€ I told it. โ€œCompletely fine.โ€

A window unfolded in the air in front of me, blue-white light hanging where no screen had any business being.

ZELIA โ€” LV 1 โ€” HP 50/50

WORLD DIFFICULTY: MAX

STR Lv. 1 / DEF Lv. 1 / AGI Lv. 1

CHARM Lv. 99 [ANOMALY]

โ€œAre you kidding me?โ€ My voice came out small in all that green. โ€œYou have to be kidding me.โ€

The window flickered and a second one scrolled open beneath it.

WELCOME BACK, ZELIA.

CURRENT ZONE: VALDRIS MARSH

WORLD DIFFICULTY: MAXIMUM

WARNING: ALL MALE ENTITIES WILL BE AFFECTED.

[ERROR] CANNOT RESET STATS.

[REDACTED]

Welcome back.

Not welcome.

Back.

I read it twice, then poked a finger at the error line. It didnโ€™t expand. It didnโ€™t explain anything. The [REDACTED] sat under it like a blacked-out row in a legal document, and something about it raised the hairs on my arms. I filed it in the drawer of things I could not afford to think about yet and looked for the logout button. There wasnโ€™t one.

A chime sounded, bright and cheerful, badly matched to the scenery.

NEW QUEST: FIRST CONTACT

SATISFY THE FIRST CREATURE THAT FINDS YOU.

REWARD: 50 EXP

FAIL CONDITION: DEATH

I read it. I read it again. A third time, lips moving.

โ€œSatisfy,โ€ I said the word out loud, testing it.

Somewhere, a developer had typed that.

Somewhere, that developer had a manager, and the manager had approved it, and QA had signed off, and now the tutorial quest of this game wanted me to fuck whatever crawled out of the water first.

The water answered before I finished the thought.

The bubbles had been popping for a while. Now the surface bulged and broke, and a shape hauled itself up out of the black.

It stood maybe five feet, a frog built like a man, mottled green and grey, water sheeting off its wide head and chest.

A thin line of text hovered over its skull: BULLYWUG, LV 3.

Its throat sac pulsed in and out, pale and rapid. Between its legs, something tapered and pale pushed out from a slit in its skin and unfurled, and every possible reading of the word satisfy collapsed into one.

Then it croaked. Deep enough that I felt it in my sternum before I heard it, a low bass note that seemed to move the water.

It crouched, and jumped. Six feet of arc is a lot when the thing jumping is five feet tall. It came down in front of me with a wet slap of webbed feet, and I stumbled back a step, heel sinking into mud. Its tongue flicked out in quick pink flashes, tasting the air around my neck, my shoulders, my hair, never quite touching, just reading me. A webbed hand closed around my wrist, cool and damp and stronger than anything that size had a right to be. It pressed my palm flat against its chest, and under the cool skin its heart was going like a birdโ€™s, rabbit-fast, frantic.

Then it pulled.

Toward the water.

I dug my heels in. The mud gave way anyway. A menu bloomed at the edge of my vision, glowing politely.

[RESIST] / [SUBMIT]

And that was where I did the math.

Fifty HP. Strength one. No weapon. The quest didnโ€™t say kill the first creature that finds you; it said satisfy, and the fail condition was death, and every path to death I could see started with [RESIST].

Meanwhile, the creatureโ€™s heartbeat was hammering under my palm like it was the one scared, and my own pulse was going hard for reasons that were not all fear.

I remembered the starter village. Four minutes of being wanted so loudly the game couldnโ€™t even run, and Iโ€™d unplugged and run.

Itโ€™s a game, I thought.

Itโ€™s a game, nobody real will ever know, and the quest engine just handed me a permission slip with my name on it.

Maybe I can enjoy this. Maybe those fifty points werenโ€™t a joke after all.

The menu hung there, waiting for a click. I let it dissolve, unchosen, and made the decision myself. I stopped pulling. I turned my wrist loose in its grip, and when it tugged again I walked with it, so the last three steps down into the water were mine.

The water was warm. That surprised me more than anything else had, warm as bathwater and thick with silt, closing over my knees, my thighs. My heart was slamming, and my fingers had gone numb from being clenched, and I made myself open my hands.

Committed, I told myself.

You did the math.

The bullywugโ€™s hands went for my clothes with tremendous confidence and zero skill. Webbed fingers with little black claws snagged in my laces and pulled the wrong knot tighter. It grabbed my collar with both hands and stretched it like it was trying to open a jar.

โ€œOkay, okay, hey.โ€

I batted its hands down, took hold of my hem, and pulled the starter tunic off over my head myself. The air felt cool on my bare skin after the water. I dropped the tunic on a half-sunken log, hooked my thumbs in my underwear, and got those off too while the creatureโ€™s throat sac pulsed faster and its gold eyes fixed on my chest like I was the quest marker.

It croaked low and turned me by the hips, walking me two steps, pressing until I sat back against the log where it rose out of the shallows. Moss squished under my shoulder blades. My ass dipped below the waterline into the warm murk, the water lapping at my waist, and it stepped between my opened legs, cool belly against my hot one, throat sac pulsing at my eye level.

Its cock nudged my inner thigh, cool and insistent. The tip was tapered to a soft point, and when it notched against my cunt and pushed, the taper helped, the first inch easy, easier than I expected, because I was wet, because apparently my body had voted before my mouth finished the argument. Then it kept going, and the shape of it changed as it did, thickening toward the root, thicker than anything Iโ€™d ever taken, a slow, bright stretch that pulled a sound out of me I didnโ€™t recognise as my own.

โ€œOh,โ€ I said. โ€œOh, fuck.โ€

There was strain, real strain, my body working to take it, a burn sitting right at the edge of too much, and I breathed through it the way you breathe through a cramp while the water lapped at us and the creature did not stop, and when the thick root of it finally seated flush against me I felt split open and full in a way that had my thighs shaking against its hips.

Then it fucked me.

There was no technique. None. It was pure instinct, fast, shallow snaps of its hips, frantic, a pace like something trying to outrun its own heart. The cool, damp skin of its belly pressed mine on every stroke, and the croaks came in rhythm now, vibrating through my chest where our bodies met, so I felt the sound as much as heard it. And on every downstroke, that thick root ground straight against my clit, fat and blunt and relentless, and that was where the absurdity started losing the argument with my body. Heat pooled low in me. My hips began moving back without asking my permission.

It finished the way it fucked: suddenly, and all the way. One last hard thrust buried it to the root, and at the base of its cock something swelled, a knot inflating inside me, locking all that thickness in place while it came. Hot. So hot after all that cool skin, pulse after pulse of it, more than made sense, flooding me while the knot held everything exactly where the creature wanted it. I felt every throb against my walls, and I hung onto the log and took it, gasping.

It didnโ€™t soften. The knot went down after a long moment, and before Iโ€™d finished doing the arithmetic on the volume situation, it started again. Slower. Deeper.

Round two was different, and I was the one who made it different. Somewhere in those long, deep strokes I stopped holding on and started pushing back, meeting it halfway, rolling my hips so the root dragged right where I needed it. The bullywug made a croak like a question. I answered by hooking my ankles behind its legs.

โ€œDonโ€™t stop,โ€ I said, and my voice was already wrecked. โ€œRight there. Donโ€™t you dare stop.โ€

The build was honest work, nothing fancy, just that fat base grinding my clit twice a second and the fullness dragging along every inch of me inside. When it hit, I clamped down around it and came hard enough that the shake of my legs slopped water over the log, my own noises bouncing off the trees, and the bullywug croaked something that sounded flat-out smug.

I lay there through the aftershocks while it kept going, and noticed the distance Iโ€™d crossed. An hour ago the quest was something happening to me. Now I was the one playing it.

Rounds three and four blurred. The light through the canopy moved a handโ€™s width. The distant frogs kept up their own conversation like nothing in this cove was remarkable. Load three pulsed into me and leaked back out in cloudy threads that drifted off through the murk, then load four, and I came twice somewhere in there, once from the knot swelling, once from nothing but the drag, and my legs gave out entirely and the log held me up.

Round five, the creature was the one failing. Its rhythm, never good, fell apart, the snaps going ragged and off-tempo, its croaks cracking at the top. Its gold eyes had a strained look now, and its webbed hands kept slipping off the log. It buried itself with what felt like desperation, and the knot swelled slowly this time, and it flooded me with what had to be the dregs of the tank, shuddering all over.

And then its eyes cleared.

Really cleared, like a window wiped with a rag. It looked at me, croaked once, small and bewildered, and pulled out of me with a wet, obscene noise. A rush of heat followed it out and dissolved into the water. It released my hips, backed off a step, and turned and pushed away into the fog with a splash that soaked me one more time for the road.

Five rounds. Five loads. It broke first.

I lay back against the log and laughed at the canopy until my abs gave out, and everything had given out, so it was a short laugh.

Then it was quiet, just my own blood in my ears. I slumped in the shallows, hips in the warm water, the air cooling the wet skin of my stomach and chest, and I shivered once, head to toe.

The chime came back, chipper as ever.

QUEST COMPLETE: FIRST CONTACT

+50 EXP

HP 50 โ†’ 46 (โˆ’4, MINOR STRAIN)

โ€œFour,โ€ I told the swamp. โ€œIt charged me four hit points.โ€ Iโ€™d spent an hour as a cardio machineโ€™s partner and the system had itemized me a fatigue surcharge. โ€œFine. Bill me.โ€

Another window.

SKILL ACQUIRED: NYMPHโ€™S EMBRACE (PASSIVE)

YOUR BODY ADAPTS TO ANY CREATUREโ€™S ANATOMY. NO DAMAGE FROM SIZE OR SHAPE DURING INTERCOURSE.

I read it twice. On its face, a kindness. It was also the system reviewing the transcript of the last hour and drawing conclusions about my build. It had watched me get railed by an amphibian and responded by optimizing me for the next one.

The next one.

That phrase existed in my life now. I filed it next to the [REDACTED] and the drawer clicked shut.

ROUTE SELECTION UNLOCKED

COMPLETE 1 MORE MAIN QUEST TO LOCK IN YOUR ROUTE.

I waited for a tooltip. An explanation. The window just glowed at me, pleased with itself.

โ€œRoute to where?โ€ I asked. It didnโ€™t answer.

That was when the swamp stopped making noise.

Not quieter. Stopped. The distant frogs cut off mid-bar. The insects quit. The bubbles stopped popping. Silence pressed in from every side, and nothing about it felt good. Then something heavy took a step, north of me, thirty feet, give or take. Underbrush crunched. Another step, closer, unhurried, each footfall landing with a weight that said big, whatever it was. Big, and patient.

NEW MAIN QUEST: THE PATROL

THE APPROACHING ENTITY MUST BE SATISFIED. SURVIVE.

REWARD: 60 EXP, ITEM UNLOCK

I was still sitting in the mud, used and dripping, cum cooling in slow trails down my inner thigh, when the menu bloomed in front of me, and three options glowed in the green-grey light.

[HIDE] / [WAIT] / [CALL OUT]

Thirty feet north, the underbrush crunched again.

Closer.
