Axel, cold, arrogant but handsome still bears the grief of losing his mother who he lived with in London before moving to America to live with his father and step family after his mother's death. He was closed off with his new family and was determined to live lowkey for the next few years until he can finally leave his father but fate had other plans when one of his new neighbor's daughter, whose window was directly opposite his found it appealing to piss him off every time, Even though they completely hate each other's gut, they couldn't stop the attraction that was building inside of them especially when third parties came into the picture. Like they say, there is a thin line between love and hatred, but will they be able to cross that line? Or just like their fence, will it keep them in their respective lanes?

Chapter 1

Winter pushed the front door open as the smell of freshly baked chocolate brownies hit her. School was stressful that day and all she wanted to do was fall on her bed and sleep but she knew if she slept off, she wouldn't meet any of the sweet smelling brownie by the time she wakes up so she dragged her leg to the kitchen.

"you are back." Her eldest sister, Isabella, greeted with a smile. "How was school today?"

"I'm not five Isa." Winter groaned as she settled on one of the kitchen stools.

"But you are still my baby sister." Isa laughed making winter roll her eyes.

Isabella was by far the nicest child in the house and also the oldest. With her wedding coming up, Isa was more bubbly than usual. Born into a family of five children with her being the last, winter gets more attention than she wants, so she was the 'wicked one' like her other siblings put it.

Winter had five siblings, two sisters and two brothers. Isabella; 25, a model, studied fine arts and set to get married to the love of her life in three months time. Next, Colin; 23, currently in his final year of computer engineering, winter's best friend and favorite sibling. Then there's Mason; 21, models too under monalisa's agency, in his second year of studying theatre arts. Next Hailey; 19, activist of the family, studies law, argues alot with winter and calls her 'the wicked', Last of all; Winter; 17, brain of the family, extremely good with studies, plans to study medicine after high school.

The Browns were rich, with her father being a neurosurgeon and her mom owning a big modeling agency, under which her siblings work and a clothing line too. But this didn't stop any of them from pursuing their dreams and their parents loved that about them.

"Yo winter." Winter groaned. It was rare to see Mason at home, but whenever he was, he never seems to let her live in peace. "My sweet little sis." He said pressing a kiss to the side of her head before stealing a brownie.

"Sweet my ass." Hailey followed in taking a brownie.

"Why are you guys home again?" Winter sighed before taking one for herself.

"Because our school is on break, so sit back and enjoy our company." Mason answered while chewing and Winter questioned why girls were all over him.

"You are disgusting." Winter mumbled resulting in mason kissing her face as she slapped him away.

Winter thanked isabella before taking a plate of brownie from the counter and making her way upstairs. She would give those two in exchange for colin, any day.

It's been a week since they moved here and she's been minding her business especially in school. Her parents had bought this place because it was closer to her grandparents. The house was big and beautiful but a new house came with leaving behind memories, friends and starting fresh.

After freshening up, winter was about to lay on her bed when loud noises started to come from the next house, That house was never quiet, it's either loud music, or instruments playing or arguments and it was always coming from the room that looked to be directly opposite hers.

Winter promised to mind her business but she couldn't any longer when she heard a loud crashing noise. Drawing out her telescope, she positioned it at a small corner of her room where she wouldn't be easily found and from the open window, she could see a man and a boy talking and looked to be in a heated argument.

The argument went on for a while before the older man left the room, leaving just the boy who looked to be her age, a heavy wind suddenly blew winter's curtain, exposing her and her Telescope to the person across.

She froze as she watched his eyes widen in realization. "Really? Thats what you are, a creep?" He scoffed making a frown settle on winter's face.

"Excuse you?"

"I heard about the new neighbors but i never made one the kids out to be a freak." The boy continued as her frown deepened.

"Mind the way you are speaking to me." Winter seethed.

"If you weren't such a creep I wouldn't be speaking to you." He replied and winter was perplexed.

Winter always had something to say so you could imagine to what extent it annoyed her that she couldn't give a reply. She knew she was wrong for watching him have family issues but she was just curious as to the noise that kept coming from his room.

Just as winter wanted to give her reply, the man before suddenly walked in and broke into a smile when he saw her.

"You must be Mr brown's last daughter?" Without waiting for a reply from her, he continued. "I see you've met Metawin."

"Metawin?" She repeated with an amused smile.

"Axel." The boy groaned as he turned to his father with an annoyed look.

"Ah, my bad, Axel." The man laughed and turned to winter, using his hand to block his mouth in an attempt to prevent Axel from hearing. "He doesn't want people to know his middle name."

Oh so Axel was his first name, and metawin was his middle name.

"Oh, i'm winter by the way." She smiled back at the man before sending a dirty look to Axel.

"Welcome to the neighborhood Winter, i hope you find it nice here and also, you and Axel become good friends." He replied enthusiastically.

"We'll see about that." They both chorused as they glared at each other.

Axel had just successfully entered winter's hate list unknown to him and she was going to get back at him for what he said
