Chapter one

There was once was a beautiful boy, so kind ,so gentle, his hair was smooth as silk, it changed shades in the sunlight, alternating between red and brown. His eyes were a lovely amber brown. Little freckles dusted his little upturned nose, his lips, in the shape of a heart and his boxy smile captured his innocence when he laughed. Truly an angel among mortals.

He was adored by many, and absolutely dotted on by his mother.

One day, when the little boy wandered near the edge of the lake close to his village. He walked to the waters and saw his reflection in the water and he too, truly agreed that he was indeed lovely. The young male wondered if he could be lovely enough to have a god play with. With that thought, he made it his mission to get the attention of atleast one god.

So ,each morning, the young child would go to the temple and worship earnestly for hours . He would recite the same prayer "mighty god of the skies and seas, wouldn't you take notice of your devoted believer and visit him to play for atleast a while if you please?"

Tirelessly, he went to the temple for months then years, as time moved on slowly, the boy soon realised that no one would come down and play with him. Disappointed and dejected he wept to sleep each night.

Slowly, his once twinkling eyes dulled with grief and disappointment. His soft affectionate laughed was never heard again. The village was in deep despair for their lovely boy. They too, prayed to the heavens and asked for a god to come down and play with the child but alas, no one answered their prayers either.

One calm cool evening, exhausted with feelings of heavy grief, the boy sank to his knees once more and prayed as he cried," why will not come down and play with me? Am I not lovely enough, am I not earnest enough?, am I not worthy?,all I wanted was to be your friend. Why are you so cruel? why do you shun my devotion,?why do you not listen to me? wh..." the boy could not even finish his questions, too overwhelmed with crushing loneliness, he quietly sobbed.

Then, all of a sudden, he felt a hand gently caress his lovely burgundy hair, a soothing voice spoke eloquently and warmly "dear child, why do you weep? what burdens you so? You are far too young and innocent to be carrying such tremendous sorrow. What is it you want, tell me, let me make it better."

Overcome with shock and extreme joy, the youngling sat there frozen, not uttering a single word.

Slowly, he turned his body and came face to face with what could only be described as perfection. A man with billowing pale white hair, striking golden eyes full of knowledge and kindness, a face so kind and beautiful it brought tears to the small male.

The man knelt at the foot of his bed....too still, staring at him with keen interest and pure adulated adoration.

The boy felt his very soul come back to life, his face lit up with happiness as his eyes sparkled like the stars, he slowly walked up to the kneeling man and sat in his lap, resting his head on the god's chest, sighing, he said "I've been waiting for you, for so long, now all my toys are too old for us to play with."

Smiling, the god said in his calm warm tone "my dear child, you only called on me today. How could I ignore such.... an adorable thing like you, hmm? " his eyes brightened all the more.

"Every morning for the past months, years even!I've been going to the temple to beg you for your company, but you never came. We're you waiting for me to lose myself and joy before you decided to finally show up?" He responded.

The white haired male sat quietly as he continued to stoke the child's hair before he spoke " you've only Just called to me today." He repeated

The boy's eyes widened slightly and he raised his head from the gentle embrace, "what's your name ?"

"Don't you think that should be the first thing you ask when you see stranger and not crawl into their lap, child? Did your mother not teach you to fear things that lurk in the dark?"

Adonis stared dumbly at the glowing stranger," you seem kind,I'm sure you would not hurt me."

Silence accompanied his statement and stretched for a while, "Aren't you a smart little thing," the man said slowly " my name is Hesperos, have you heard of me before?"

Adonis flushed,"I don't really remember all the names abd deeds of all the god, but I promise to read everything about you!"

Hesperos's eyes gleamed, a single brow raised slightly,"Why read when you can ask me all you desire to know?"

"Does that mean I will be seeing you everyday?!" Adonis could not contain the excitement in his voice.

Smiling lightly,Hesperos nodded once.

Adonis immediately started rambling asking a million questions at once.

Hesperos chuckled lightly as he caressed his hair, humans were truly entertaining.
