Mr. Vercille

The Vercille estate was nothing like Valentina had expected.

She had seen pictures of the mansion when she applied for the position, but pictures hadn’t captured the sheer size of it.

Black iron gates surrounded acres of perfectly maintained grounds. Security cameras were positioned around every corner, and men in dark suits stood outside the entrance.

Valentina tightened her grip around the strap of her purse.

She reminded herself why she was here.

A job.

Nothing more.

The woman who had interviewed her had been very clear about the position.

She wouldn’t be cleaning the entire house.

She wouldn’t be serving every member of the family.

She had been hired as Theodore Vercille’s personal sex attendant.

Only his.

Her responsibilities included preparing his morning coffee, organizing his paperwork, keeping his bedroom clean, folding and arranging his clothes, bringing him meals, and remaining nearby during meals in case he needed anything, and

It sounded simple.

Until she’d heard his name.

Theodore Vercille.

Everyone in the city knew it.

The Vercille empire owned hotels, restaurants, shipping companies, nightclubs, and several other businesses.

But the rumors surrounding the family were darker.

People whispered that the Vercilles weren’t simply wealthy.

They were dangerous.

Valentina walked through the enormous front doors.

A housekeeper led her upstairs.

“Mr. Vercille is in his office.”

Valentina nodded.

“Thank you.”

The housekeeper stopped before walking away.

“One thing.”

Valentina looked at her.

“Yes?”

“Don’t be late.”

Valentina frowned slightly.

“I won’t.”

“And don’t touch anything on his desk unless you’re specifically bringing it to him.”

“I understand.”

The woman hesitated.

“And don’t call him Theo.”

Valentina almost laughed.

“I wasn’t planning to.”

“Good.”

The housekeeper walked away.

Valentina took a breath before knocking.

Three seconds passed.

“Come in.”

His voice was deep.

Calm.

Controlled.

Valentina opened the door.

The first thing she noticed was the enormous office.

Dark wood.

Floor-to-ceiling windows.

Bookshelves.

A large desk covered with neatly organized documents.

And behind that desk sat Theodore Vercille.

He was dressed in a black suit with the sleeves of his shirt buttoned neatly at his wrists.

He looked up.

His eyes met hers.

Valentina immediately straightened.

“Good morning, Mr. Vercille.”

His expression didn’t change.

“You’re the new attendant.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Valentina Moretti.”

She nodded.

“Yes.”

He studied her for another moment before returning his attention to the papers in front of him.

“Your schedule is on the desk.”

Valentina walked over and picked it up.

She read it carefully.

6:30 — Coffee

7:00 — Breakfast

8:00 — Paperwork

12:30 — Lunch

6:30 — Dinner

9:00 — Bedroom preparation

There were additional notes beneath it.

Clothes prepared according to his schedule.

Office organized before 8:00 a.m.

No unnecessary interruptions.

Valentina looked up.

“Is there anything else you’d like me to know?”

Theo didn’t look up.

“Yes.”

She waited.

“If you have a problem with something, tell me directly.”

Valentina nodded.

“Understood, Mr. Vercille.”

“And don’t be afraid of me.”

That caught her off guard.

She looked at him.

He finally raised his eyes.

“You seem nervous.”

“I’m not.”

One eyebrow lifted.

Valentina immediately realized how that sounded.

“I mean—I’m just getting used to everything.”

For the first time, something almost resembling amusement crossed his face.

“Fair enough.”

She nodded.

“Would you like your coffee now?”

“Yes.”

“How do you take it?”

“Black.”

Valentina turned toward the door.

“Valentina.”

She stopped.

“Yes, Mr. Vercille?”

“You’re going to learn quickly that I don’t like repeating myself.”

She nodded.

“I understand.”

Then she left.

Twenty minutes later, she returned with his coffee.

She placed it carefully beside his paperwork.

Theo glanced at it.

Then at her.

“Perfect.”

Valentina nodded.

“Thank you.”

She turned to leave.

“Valentina.”

She stopped again.

He picked up the coffee.

“Tomorrow, six-thirty.”

“Yes, Mr. Vercille.”

She walked out.

Neither of them knew that the routine would last only a few weeks.

Because soon, Theo’s parents would come home.

And they would notice the woman who seemed to be the only person in the entire estate who wasn’t afraid to look their son directly in the eyes.

And that would be the beginning of an arrangement neither Valentina nor Theodore had asked for.
