CHAPTER-1 "We're going, no matter what"
Jack leaned forward, frustrated. "Dad , it's been year's since we had our last family trip together."
After a second, Jack frowned, his voice rising. “I want to go! It’s been four damn years since we last went on a vacation!”
Before Bill could say a word, Julie jumped in. “Yes! Jack is right for the first time. I, too, am just so done with this boring life at home. Now I want a vacation, no matter what!”
Bill smiled, looking at both of his children. “Oh, so you guys have started working together.” He laughed. “So, where do you guys want to go?”
Martha glared at Bill. “Why do you always listen to them?” she snapped. “No, we are not going anywhere. You two, go to your bedrooms and study!”
Martha, too, longed for a vacation. She was tired of the same routine every day. But the family was saving money to buy a farmhouse, and she knew that an expensive trip could set them back. She couldn’t herself to spend money when they were so close to achieving something they had been planning for a long time.
Jack and Julie exchanged a glance. Then, as if they had the exact same thought, their eyes lit up.
“We could buy a farmhouse somewhere in the hills!” they exclaimed together. “You’d get your farmhouse, and we’d get our vacation!”
Bill and Martha looked at each other and exchanged a smile.
“Okay, fine,” they said together.
Jack and Julie froze for a second, barely believing what they had just heard. Then they screamed with excitement. They jumped up, high-fived each other, and started dancing around the room, laughing and cheering.
“We’re going on a vacation!” Jack shouted.
“And we’re getting a farmhouse!” Julie yelled, jumping up and down.
The two of them danced around the room like they had just won the lottery, their faces glowing with pure excitement.
