Chapter 1
I brushed the mascara hurriedly on my eyelashes, squinting at the mirror through the bright lights. I popped open a jar of lip balm, and I smeared the sticky substance on my lips. I tried to close the container, but fumbled with it, and dropped it to the ground, the goop falling out of the jar. "Dammit!"
Someone coughed, and I glanced next to me. Olivia gave me raised eyebrows.
"What 'choo lookin at girl?"
I pushed her playfully, and she shoved me back. She laughed at my faked fury, and I slopped up a bit of the slimy lip balm in the palm of my hand, holding it out to her threateningly. She stopped laughing momentarily, and I grinned in triumph. After we cleaned up the mess, I huffed impatiently. Glancing behind me I said, "Good Lord, are you done yet?"
There was the sound of toilet paper being rolled of of the unstable holder from behind the stall. "Don't get your panties in a wad! When you gotta go you gotta go!"
The high pitched voice came from behind us," And your not ready either, so you can't pressure me!"
Before I could respond, a spray of strong smelling lavender stuff squirted all over my face. I recoiled in horror, as my freshly makeuped face coated in wet shiny liquid. I almost fell backwards, hitting my bum on the dryer. As the fogginess cleared from my eyes, I blinked at a pair of large blue eyes, staring at me guiltily. " Sorry Lia!"
She squeaked. I let out a calm breath, struggling not to panic," Okay, fine. It's fine, Olivia."
I took a paper towel, and barely brushed it against my skin, trying to soak the moisture without taking off all my makeup," The dance is in just a few minutes and my face is covered in glop? No problem."
The stall opened, and there was a loud flush. "You guys ready yet?"
Dannie came out of the bathroom, wearing her dress. We gaped at her, and she spun in a circle, all smiles. "How do I look?"
He dress was pure white, and it was bunched up to her thighs, like a tutu. It had little diamonds sprinkled over the front of it, and tiny straps holding it up. The dress brought out her perfect cocoa colored skin, and her dark shiny hair, curled into ringlets. She was wearing tiny white heels, and some silver bangle bracelets. Olivia recovered faster than me," Wow! Dannie, you look amazing!"
I gave her a hug," Yeah, you look beautiful."
She blushed and gestured to Olivia and I. "Well, you guys look great too."
I looked at Olivia, nodding. She was wearing a long turquoise gown, that matched her eyes and her long feather earrings. Her hair was combed out, and let loose, in a long blue rainbow falling to her waist. I was wearing a floor length gown, colored rose pink, and my hair was long and dip dyed blonde. My face however, was still blotchy with lavender spray, and I started dabbing at it again, leaning over the sink at the mirror. My long sea shell necklace clattered over the edge of the sink, hanging from my neck. "So, where the hell is Stephanie?"
Dannie, slouched next to me, and I shrugged," She texted me and told me she'd be here in a few m-"
Just as we said that, Stephanie walked in, glowing with happiness. "Oh my God, Steph! Where have you been?"
Dannie gaped at her. I pushed her, laughing. "Shut up Dannie! Stephanie, you look radiant."
Stephanie blushed," Thanks."
Dannie rolled her eyes and pushed be back. I leaped at her with the dirty towel in my hands, but Olivia stepped in front of me," Whoa! You guys, we're gonna make ourselves even more of a mess, before the party even starts."
We all took a moment to consider that, and Dannie fixed her hair," And yet another zen moment from Olivia Torres."
"The blue hair gives her powers!"
I fake gasped, and Dannie and I fell to our knees, kissing her shoes. Stephanie laughed, and Olivia looked a little amused and muttered," Oh dear Lord."
"You remember when Jay used to say that all the time?"
Stephanie laughed, but the rest of us fell silent, and Dannie gave me a sideways glance. Stephanie looked horrified, realizing what she'd done, "Oh, Sorry Lia, I didn't-"
Olivia shook her head warningly, and Stephanie fell silent. After a moment, she flicked open her phone,"Oh! Michael just texted me."
She blushed, and Dannie practically raped me trying to see the test message on Steph's screen. "Ow!"
I muttered, as she leaped by me. "OOH LEMME SEE! Sorry Lia."
She laughed as I tumbled aside, and snatched the phone from Stephanie. After a few moments, she looked at Stephanie, awestruck," That is so CUTE!"
I momentarily put down the paper towel, interested," What? What'd he say?"
Stephanie grabbed the phone back from Dannie, and tossed it to me, still blushing furiously.
Inbox- Michael Moore
Hey, i'm out here waiting for you. ♥ And, remember to be yourself tonight.
Don't try to impress me or anything:) I already like you. A lot.
"Aww, go to him! Don't wait for us!"
I beamed at the happiness shown through her face. "Are you sure?"
Dannie and I both yelled at the same time. 'YES. GO."
Stephanie, laughed, and said bye.
"So, were you ever in love with Jay?"
Olivia glared at Dannie, but Dannie didn't give a crap. She was too straightforward. I pretended not to hear, but even Olivia looked a little interested after I didn't answer. "I don't know."
I said finally," He and I were best friends, but I don't know what happened to him, I don't know why he changed."
I felt tears coming in my eyes, and I stopped talking abruptly. "It's okay."
Olivia put an arm around my shoulders, and glared at Dannie again. Dannie shrugged," Don't look at me."
She left the room, following Stephanie. "Hey, don't worry about him."
I nodded, forcing away my watery eyes," Um, okay. I'll be out in a bit, you can leave me."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
She left and I stared at myself in the mirror, so utterly confused. Were you ever in love with Jay?
