Aarav's Time Machine
The Future Had Mastered the Stars, But Not Time
Humanity had entered the 32nd century. For more than a thousand years, civilization had transformed beyond the imagination of earlier generations. Humanity had established settlements across the Solar System, developed extraordinary forms of artificial intelligence, harnessed advanced energy systems, and learned to manipulate matter at scales once considered impossible.
Yet one mystery remained beyond human understanding. Time.
Humanity could measure it. Humanity could observe its effects. Humanity could even manipulate the passage of time through extreme velocity and gravitational fields. But no human being had ever successfully travelled through it.
Until 17 April 3110. Deep beneath a highly secured scientific facility stood a laboratory known as Krishiv Research. At its centre was a machine unlike anything humanity had ever built. It occupied an enormous circular chamber, surrounded by concentric superconducting rings, quantum processors, antimatter containment systems, electromagnetic field generators, and an intricate neural interface.
At the heart of the machine stood a transparent cylindrical chamber. Inside it was a single seat. And beside it was a futuristic neural headset. The scientist standing before the machine was Dr. Aarav.
Aarav was a brilliant theoretical physicist, professor, Sanskrit scholar, and founder of Krishiv Research. For decades, he had studied the greatest scientific theories of his age—relativity, quantum mechanics, spacetime geometry, gravitational physics, consciousness research, and temporal mechanics. But his curiosity extended beyond modern science. He had spent years studying the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Bhagavad Gita, and ancient Sanskrit texts. Ancient Indian scriptures contained descriptions of cosmic cycles, extraordinary beings, different dimensions of existence, and abilities that appeared to transcend ordinary limitations of space and time. Aarav did not regard these descriptions simply as mythology. He wondered whether some of them could contain ideas that humanity had not yet learned how to interpret. Aarav believed that the greatest discoveries of the future might come from understanding not only the universe outside the human mind—but also consciousness itself. His research team stood around him. Arnavesh, his senior scientific colleague, carefully monitored the temporal-field calculations. Prayan, the engineering specialist, watched the energy and containment systems. And Vyansh, the youngest member of the team, observed everything with a mixture of excitement and fear. The enormous machine slowly came alive. A low-frequency vibration travelled through the laboratory. Blue-white energy began moving around the superconducting rings. The central chamber illuminated.
Arnavesh looked at his monitor. “Sir, the electromagnetic field is increasing.”
Prayan checked another panel. “Antimatter containment is stable. But spacetime distortion is already approaching the predicted threshold.”
Aarav remained calm. He looked at the machine he had spent years developing.
“For centuries,” he said quietly, “humanity has looked at time as something we could only move through in one direction.”
He turned toward his team. “Today, we find out whether that limitation is absolute.”
Vyansh looked at the neural headset. “And if the consciousness link fails?”
Aarav smiled. “Then we learn from the failure.”
Arnavesh hesitated. “And if it succeeds?”
Aarav looked toward the chamber. “Then history changes today.”
The Experiment
Back inside Krishiv Research, Aarav entered the temporal chamber. The automated system activated the neural interface.
A calm synthetic voice announced:
CHRONO-CONSCIOUSNESS TRANSCEIVER — INITIALIZATION COMPLETE.
Aarav placed the neural headset over his head. The machine began generating a controlled electromagnetic field around him. The air inside the chamber seemed to shimmer. On the monitors, mathematical models of spacetime began changing rapidly. Aarav closed his eyes. His breathing slowed.
He whispered: “Begin the sequence.”
The computer responded:
TEMPORAL FIELD ACTIVATION INITIATED.
The superconducting rings began rotating. The energy level increased. The chamber filled with a strange blue-white glow. For several seconds, everything appeared normal.
Then—
WARNING.
Arnavesh looked at his screen. “Sir... the temporal field is rising too quickly.”
Prayan checked the containment system. “The antimatter cells are still stable.”
Another warning appeared.
SPACETIME DISTORTION CRITICAL.
“Aarav!” Arnavesh shouted. “We need to shut it down!”
Aarav tried to disconnect the neural interface. It wouldn’t release. The machine had entered a critical feedback loop.
“Emergency shutdown!” Prayan shouted.
The system failed to respond. The superconducting rings began to overload. Sparks erupted across the chamber.
“Everyone, get out!” Aarav shouted.
A violent surge of energy tore through the machine.
Then—
BOOM!
A blinding explosion filled the laboratory. The entire facility shook. Emergency systems activated. Smoke and debris filled the chamber. The temporal rings collapsed. The laboratory fell silent.
The Tragedy
When the emergency response team finally reached the chamber, the machine was completely destroyed. And at the centre of the wreckage lay Dr. Aarav. He had suffered fatal injuries in the catastrophic machine malfunction. Despite every attempt by the emergency medical team to save him, Aarav was declared dead. The world’s most ambitious attempt to travel through time had ended in tragedy. The experiment had failed. Or so humanity believed.
