Chapter 1
It was an early morning in ID Sector #3, Carrie had already started traversing up one of the walls of the Sector Looked Neighborhood. She did this because to her there wasn’t really anything else to do around the place. And there was also the fact that she was a morning bird, and most of her friends were still asleep by the time she woke up.
And Carrie was right. Icko, Jacob, and John were all fast asleep in their beds. Although John’s alarm did go off since John liked to wake up some minutes after Carrie usually wakes up. He does this so he can have more time to do studies about the past and other ID Sectors and their history. Jacob lived with his only remaining family member, his grandma. The two bonded over their conspiracy theories about the lizard people that may or may not exist.
While Icko lived by himself. His parents died a few years ago in a H’Rackler attack that was caused by the stupidity of one of the board members, leaving him to fend for himself most of the time and use what remaining government programs he could.
But unknown to her friends, Carrie was planning a trip for the four of them. Said trip would be them leaving the neighborhood and going out into the complex. Carrie hadn’t told her friends about this trip because she wasn’t ready to tell them about it yet but she planned to tell them as a welcome surprise, it would even be a nice way for them to destress.
Carrie would get her three friends on a group call, explaining the trip. “I’m sorry, you want to do what?!” John asks. “Yes, I want to leave the neighborhood to go out into ID Sector #3.” Carrie replies. “Well, it sounds dangerous…But there’s nothing to do other than stay here and know that my parents are dead because of one of the board members, I will do,” Icko says. “Yeah, and maybe we might even find lizard people there!” Jacob exclaims as John sighs. “So John, are you coming?”Carrie asks. “Yes. Only because I don’t want to be left here knowing the possibility that you three will die.” John says. “Well if we do die…At least we’ll die together.” Icko says. “But first, we need to prepare.” Carrie says. “Right.” Icko says as the call ends.
Word of the trip spread around the neighborhood due to Carrie’s parents. Most peop-le were interested while others were sceptical. This eventually reached the board. Some of them were horrified by this idea, but most of them were surprisingly ok with this. “I believe this could be a good thing, maybe they could find more things out there that-” Before Arren could finish his sentence, Robb interrupts.
“If they get out, more people would want to get out.” Robb said sternly, his voice echoing through the board room. “And if more would want to get out, we will be left with nothing just like the empty void of space we are tirelessly protecting people from.” Then, Kelly cuts in. “While yes I agree with Robb that this shouldn’t happen, I agree with Arren. Maybe if they go out, they could help us finally find it, finally find heaven.” Kelly says.
“Yeah I agree.” Kyle says. “I didn’t ask you, mister.” Robb says as Kyle frowns, annoyed by Robb calling him mister like he was his father or something. “These four kids are going to turn into a threat to the very existence of the neighborhood that has kept us safe for years, kept them safe for years.” Robb continued, his voice now taking on a gentler tone. “I agree with Robb, no one should be going out.” Alfred said. “But, if most of us here do believe that there is more out there, and that Heaven is in fact out there, then we must let the four go out.” Alfred says.
At the very edge of the neighborhood Carrie, Icko, Jacob, and John all walked up to each other, each one of them holding bags with what they had packed in preparation, some things more niche than others. “Alright, are you guys ready?” Icko asks. “Yeah, we are.” Jacob replies as John and Carrie nod in agreement before John finally says the obvious, “Okay, how are we going to get out of here in the first place?”. Carrie holds up her climbing gear, to the groans of the rest of them.
Each one of them had to dig a small alcove into the stone whenever they wanted to get a nice grip, Jacob struggled the most with pulling himself up, his arms weakened from him only using them to send his conspiracy theories over internet boards. Icko helps his friend up. “Thanks man…I should’ve listed some weights before we did this.” Jacob says.
The other side of the wall looked like a completely different world compared to a neighborhood, just dead grey metal halls that seemed to stretch on for miles into the darkness. John gulps, Icko gulps, Jacob gulps, Carrie gulps, so much gulping. They descend down the wall, into the darkness of ID Sector #3.
