Summary

At the outskirts of the Kingdom of Orvous, a demi-human girl named Lizz lives as a slave. No one wants her. No one cares about her. Her days are spent waiting, until one day, a mysterious man arrives and sets her free. For the first time, Lizz sees the world beyond the place that had been her prison for so long. She discovers freedom, proper meals, a warm home, and someone who does not see her as a slave. Yet, this new life slowly leads Lizz toward something she does not understand. Fragments of forgotten memories begin to surface. A face that feels strangely familiar. A past that has long been forgotten. And a great war that once changed the world. Who is Lizz, really? And why does her past seem determined to find its way back to her? Because some memories may never truly disappear.

Prologue

On the western outskirts of the Kingdom of Orvous, there stood a small village that was said to be a paradise for many.

At least, that was what people said.

Houses stood close together along the streets, merchants filled the market from morning onward, and nobles occasionally visited to enjoy the tranquility of a village far from the bustle of the capital.

However, not everything that appeared beautiful truly was.

Behind the busy streets, there were places that were never mentioned in ordinary conversations.

Places where the law seemed not to apply.

Places where money could buy almost anything.

Even human beings.

And in one of those hidden places, a young girl named Lizz lived as a slave.

She was not even ten years old.

Her small body was always dressed in simple clothes that had long since faded in color. A chain was fastened around her neck, connecting her to an old wall in the corner of the room.

Yet, the chain was not what hurt the most.

It was the way people looked at her.

Lizz was not human.

She was a demi-human.

Ever since the great war that had taken place many years ago, hatred toward demi-humans had been passed down from one generation to the next. To some humans, their very existence was seen as a reminder of a war that should have ended long ago.

It was no wonder, then, that no one was interested in buying Lizz.

Day after day passed.

She could only wait.

Wait for someone to come.

Whether to buy her...

or to put an end to her suffering.

The gardener Star: I think I really like the plot of the books and the fact that the characters face consequences of their actions. I also really love the fact that it has a "moral" That 'cruelty disguised as authority/protection is still cruelty' I think I will recommend it to my friends, specially the ones who don't...
