Chapter 1
“The pain that once glorified me,eventually shaped me into someone I no longer recognized!”
Chapter 1: Not As Calm As They Thought
I was not as calm as people believed.
I had a temper—not destructive, but sharp, defensive, alive—especially when something felt
unfair. I could raise my voice. I could say things bluntly, without dressing them up.
Later, I would sit with the weight of my own words, replaying them in my head, wondering
if I had become too much.
People saw those moments and assumed they knew me.
But they didn’t see the rest.
They didn’t see how long I stayed quiet before that point—how much I held in, how many times
I chose patience... until I couldn’t anymore.
Because I had been carrying something long before my marriage began.
A quiet heaviness that had followed me since I was a girl.
In my early teens, I was a bubbly child. I would dance in front of the mirror, spinning in a
new dress, lost in my own little world.
But one day, my mom shouted at me in a way that stayed longer than the moment itself. The
room felt different after that. Quieter, but not in a comforting way.
Something in me folded.
I didn’t stop being that girl all at once—but I began to shrink. Little by little, I held myself
back. My laughter softened. My joy became something I measured.
I didn’t understand it then.
I just thought it was me.
Only much later did I begin to see it for what it was—
the quiet rift between my parents, shaping the way I learned to hold myself, long before I even
knew I was carrying it.
