Chapter 1. The door she thought had closed
This is a real life story about a girl
I hope you don't judge and misunderstand
Feel free to ask anything or comment thank you😊😁
She was just a girl with a dream.
A dream that seemed simple: study abroad, get a good education, and build a better future for herself and her mother.
But sometimes, dreams become complicated when other people have the power to influence them.
I watched her story unfold from a distance, and even though it was my story, there were moments when I felt her pain as if it were my own.
Her aunt had once been someone she trusted.
When an opportunity came for the girl to apply for a chance to study abroad, her aunt declined the application. At the same time, her own daughter received another admission opportunity.
The aunt decided to send her daughter to South Africa through a program she believed was legitimate.
The girl's mother wasn't convinced.
She tried to warn the aunt.
Something about the program didn't seem right to her.
But her concerns were dismissed. It seemed that because she didn't have much money, her words were not taken seriously.
Then the daughter left.
From the outside, it looked like everything had worked out perfectly for her.
But behind the scenes, things were very different.
After her daughter had gone, the aunt tried to convince the girl to go through the same program.
The girl didn't know what to do.
She was afraid.
She felt confused.
So she prayed.
She asked God to show her the truth.
And eventually, she decided not to go.
That was when everything changed.
The aunt became angry with her.
The girl was called ungrateful. Words were thrown at her that no young person should have to carry.
But the worst part wasn't even what was said to the girl.
It was watching her mother being hurt too.
One day, the aunt yelled at the girl's mother and made her cry.
I remember hearing about it and thinking:
Why does a girl have to carry all of this just because she is trying to make a decision about her own future?
Then came a morning she would never forget.
At around six o'clock, she was woken up and told that if she hadn't washed certain clothes, she wouldn't be allowed back inside the house.
She was just a girl.
She wasn't trying to disrespect anyone.
She had simply refused to follow a path that didn't feel right to her.
Still, she was treated as though she had committed some terrible betrayal.
There were moments when she wanted to give up.
She felt lost.
She felt betrayed.
She began wondering whether her dreams were worth all the pain that came with them.
I watched her become quieter.
And I understood why.
Sometimes people don't become distant because they don't care.
Sometimes they become distant because they've been hurt too many times.
Then, after some time, the truth finally came out.
The program her aunt had trusted was a scam.
The opportunity everyone had believed would change her daughter's future had never been what it seemed, the aunt spent more than millions for her daughter and all that had gone to waste.
And suddenly, the girl's decision made sense.
She had listened to that feeling inside her.
She had prayed.
And she had refused to go.
What had looked like stubbornness to some people had actually protected her.
Watching everything happen taught me something too.
Sometimes we think rejection means we have lost.
Sometimes we think someone else's success means we are falling behind.
But we don't always know what is waiting behind the doors we are desperate to enter.
The girl thought one door had closed on her.
If it was her mom, where will her mom get more than millions to pay for her to study.
She didn't know that refusing another door might have saved her from walking into the wrong future.
And maybe that's the lesson she needed all along:
Not every closed door is a loss.
Sometimes it is protection.
Sometimes it is redirection.
And sometimes, when you think your story is ending, life is quietly preparing to begin a completely different chapter.
She is still just a girl with a dream.
But now, she knows something she didn't know before.
Her future does not belong to the people who rejected her.
It belongs to her.
And she isn't finished writing it yet.
She was not happy because the program was a scam she felt relief that she's learned a lesson and i learned from her lesson too.
She's still searching for fully funded scholarship, not a scholarship to make her mom pay more than millions.
