Chapter 1

.

THE QUIET VALLEY

Once upon a time, there was a village called Quiet Valley, England.

It was a place where the weather was almost always rainy. Dark clouds covered the sky, the forests looked frightening, the roads were silent, and birds were rarely seen. The village was very far away from the city.

In this valley, there was a high school where the people of the area received their education.

Edwan and his family had recently moved to this strange and quiet place. Today was Edwan's first day at his new school.

He was still sleeping when his mother called his sister.

Mother: “Edwan is still sleeping. Go wake him up. He’s going to be late!”

His sister, Amalia, went into his room and woke him up.

Amalia: “Edwan, we’re getting late for school! It’s our first day today.”

Edwan opened his eyes.

Edwan: “Ahhh... okay. I’m going to get ready.”

He took a shower and got ready for school. Then he came downstairs and sat at the table to eat breakfast.

After a while, his mother went outside, while Amalia went to wait for the school bus. Her bus arrived earlier than Edwan’s.

Edwan was seventeen years old. He was wearing black trousers, a black shirt, and a black jacket.

After finishing his breakfast, he washed his hands, picked up his schoolbag, and went outside.

It was still raining lightly.

A few moments later, the school bus stopped in front of him. Edwan got on the bus and went to sit in the last seat. He looked out of the window at the beautiful yet frightening view of the valley.

“CONVERSATION ON THE BUS”

A boy around Edwan’s age was sitting nearby. He looked at Edwan and spoke to him.

Boy: “Hey... man. You seem new. I haven’t seen you before.”

Edwan looked at him.

Edwan: “Hi... yeah. I’m new here. We recently moved here. My name is Edwan.”

The boy smiled.

Boy: “Wow... nice to meet you, Edwan! You can call me—”

Edwan: “Yes?”

Before the boy could finish speaking, the bus stopped.

Everyone began getting off the bus and entering the school.

AT SCHOOL

Pepe: “I’ll tell you later. I’m getting late, and you should get going too.”

Edwan looked at him nervously before getting off the bus.

He walked toward his classroom.

When he entered the class, he sat down in an empty seat. Everyone was looking at him, which made him feel confused and nervous.

A few moments later, the teacher entered the classroom.

Everyone stood up.

Students: “Good morning, teacher!”

The teacher smiled.

Teacher: “Good morning, kids. Have a nice day and a great week!”

Then the teacher noticed Edwan.

She looked at him and said:

Teacher: “You! Come here and introduce yourself.”

Edwan stood up and walked to the front of the class.

Edwan: “Hi, I’m Edwan. I’m a new student, and today is my first day in this class.”

The students welcomed him.

Edwan returned to his seat and began writing.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the classroom door.

Girl: “Miss, may I come in?”

Teacher Iris looked toward the door.

Standing there was a beautiful girl. She was known for always being late to class.

Her name was Emma.

Teacher Iris looked at her sternly.

Teacher Iris: “You! Why are you late again?”

Emma looked nervous.

Emma: “I... hmm...”

Teacher Iris: “What? You? Tell me why you’re late!”

Emma: “I’m sorry, teacher. I don’t know why I’m late again.”

Teacher Iris sighed.

Teacher Iris: “What? You don’t know? I think you’ve lost your mind. Come and sit there!”

She pointed toward an empty seat.

Emma entered the classroom and sat beside Edwan.

She looked at him and smiled.

Emma: “Hi... is it your first day?”

Edwan: “Yeah. It’s my first day here, in this place and at this school.”

Emma smiled and held out her hand.

Emma: “I’m Emma.”

Edwan was about to shake her hand when Teacher Iris suddenly shouted:

Teacher Iris: “Emma! What’s wrong with you?!”

Emma immediately became silent and sat straight in her seat.

Edwan smiled quietly.

But then something strange happened.

Behind them, a boy was sitting alone.

His eyes suddenly turned bright red, like glowing lights.

He was staring directly at Edwan.

Edwan looked back at him.

For a moment, their eyes met.

Then, suddenly, the boy’s eyes returned to normal.

The boy smiled at Edwan.

Edwan felt suspicious after seeing him.

BREAK TIME

The bell rang, and break time finally arrived.

Edwan stood up.

Emma also stood up and smiled at him.

She held out her hand again.

Emma: “I’m Emma. Nice to know you.”

Edwan smiled.

Edwan: “Pretty name... like a princess of this place.”

Emma smiled shyly.

Edwan: “I’m Edwan, by the way. Nice to know you, Princess Emma.”

They both walked outside together.

The rain had stopped, but the clouds were still dark, and the wind continued to blow through the school grounds.

As they walked, Edwan noticed a boy watching him from a distance.

The boy’s eyes suddenly turned red.

Edwan looked directly at him.

But when he looked again...

The boy had disappeared.

Edwan stopped for a moment, confused.

Emma looked at him.

Emma: “What happened?”

Edwan looked around.

Edwan: “Nothing...”

They continued walking and eventually sat together outside.

A few moments later, Pepe came toward them.

Pepe: “Hi, Edwan! And hi to that girl too.”

He smiled and introduced himself.

Pepe: “Hi! You can call me Pepe.”

Emma looked surprised and blinked twice.

Emma: “Hmm... Pepe? Is that really your name?”

Edwan quietly laughed.

Pepe: “Yes!”

Emma smiled.

Emma: “Aww... good.”

Pepe then looked at Edwan.

Pepe: “Actually, my real name is Stink Martin.”

Edwan looked surprised.

Edwan: “Why didn’t you tell me before? And what’s with the name ‘Pepe’?”

Stink looked embarrassed.

Stink: “I’m sorry. Everyone in the academy calls me Pepe. They always tease me.”

Suddenly...

BOOOOOOM!

A loud noise echoed through the sky.

Everyone looked upward.

The dark clouds began to turn red.

The wind suddenly became stronger.

The peaceful school grounds transformed into something terrifying.

Students began to panic and rush around, looking up at the strange red-and-black clouds.

Edwan slowly stood up.

He looked toward the sky with confidence, while Emma stood behind him.

The wind was howling around them.

The clouds twisted above the school, glowing with a frightening red light.

Everyone was terrified.

Inside the school, the principal looked out of the window.

His face became pale.

He stared at the sky and whispered:

Principal: “What... is that?”
