Chapter 1 : The Roommate From Hell
Amber's pov
If someone had told me my first day at Westbridge University would end with me sharing a room with the most arrogant guy I'd ever met, I would have laughed.
Unfortunately, nobody told me.
I stood outside Room 407 with my suitcase beside me, staring at the name written on the door.
ADRIAN COLE.
I frowned.
“Please don't tell me that's my roommate.”
I pushed the door open.
A guy was standing by the window with his back toward me.
He turned.
I immediately recognized him.
Adrian Cole.
The same guy who had bumped into me at registration that morning, looked at my scholarship badge and said
“Try not to get lost here.”
His eyes moved from my face to my suitcase.
Then back to me.
You're in the wrong room.
I looked at the room number.
407.
No. I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.
His expression changed.
You're my roommate?
I smiled.
Looks like it.
He stared at me for a few seconds.
This is going to be a long semester.
He was right.
I just didn't know how right he was, because it was certainly going to be a long semester.
I looked at him again.
I was assigned to this room.
He looked at the paper in my hand and smirked.
They must have made a mistake. They don't assign males and females to the same dorm. One of us will have to move out.
He said it with a smirk, and I hated it.
Not me! we said at the same time.
We both frowned at each other.
I'm not moving out for a student on scholarship,
he said. Do you even know who my parents are?
I rolled my eyes.
They own half of this school, and they're the biggest donors, he added proudly.
I ignored him and walked to the other side of the room.
Since neither of us was moving out, I had no choice but to accept the situation.
Have a wonderful semester, roomie, I said sarcastically.
I dragged my suitcase into the room and looked around.
The room was bigger than I expected. The bed was placed opposite the windows. They was a reading table at the corner. There was also a small sitting area in the middle and a bathroom tucked behind a wooden door.
At least it wasn't terrible.
I turned around.
Then I saw it.
A used condom was lying on the floor.
I froze.
Gosh. That's disgusting.
Adrian glanced at me.
What?
I pointed at the floor.
His eyes followed my finger.
Oh.
Oh? That's all you have to say?
He shrugged.
I didn't put it there.
Clearly, but you live here!
He walked over, picked it up with a tissue and threw it into the trash.
Happy?
Not really.
I looked around the room again.
If we're going to be roommates, we need some ground rules.
He leaned against the desk.
Ground rules?
Yes.
He crossed his arms.
I'm listening.
No bringing random girls into the room!
His eyebrows lifted.
Anything else?
No loud music when I'm studying.
Fine.
Clean up after yourself.
He nodded.
And don't touch my things.
Done.
I paused.
And please, for the love of God, keep the bathroom clean.
He laughed.
What?
You've been here for ten minutes and you're already giving me rules.
Someone has to.
He shook his head.
Anything else, roomie?
I glared at him.
Yes. Stay out of my way.
His smile widened.
Deal.
I went back to unpacking.
I didn't go out that night. I stayed in, unpacking my clothes and trying to settle into my new room.
Every now and then, I could hear Adrian talking on the phone or moving around on his side of the room.
I tried my best to ignore him.
After all, I had more important things to worry about.
This was my first day at Westbridge University.
I had worked too hard for my scholarship to let anything distract me.
Especially not Adrian Cole.
Unfortunately, I had no idea that Adrian was about to become the biggest distraction of my entire semester.
