1: Prologue
Blake Valeris
I was meant to ruin her.
That was the whole point.
Break her down, and make her afraid. Take everything she thought was hers and make her understand that none of it belonged to her anymore.
I did.
I made her cry. I made her bleed. I made her scream.
And the worst part?
I was fucking good at it.
People called me evil long before she ever met me. I gave them plenty of reasons. I was the devil who dragged her into the dark and expected her to stay there.
She found her way into my darkness, sank into hell with me and somehow made it feel like home.
She looked at me and saw more than the monster everyone else saw.
She took my pain, survived my anger, and watched me bleed. She saw my wounds, she touched my scars and called them beautiful.
I still don’t understand how she did that.
She never asked me to become someone else. That was the strange part. She never looked at me and pretended I was good. She knew exactly what I was, and she knew what I had done to her.
She never pretended to forget or forgive. But she still saw something in me I couldn’t, and that was more than enough for me.
She became the voice I couldn’t shut out. The thought that followed me everywhere, and the weakness I couldn’t cut away, no matter how hard I tried.
I called myself her God. I forced her to worship me, to pray for me. But somehow, it became the other way around.
I swore I’d never pray. Then she became the one thing I was afraid to lose.
So I prayed.
Oh, I fucking prayed.
For forgiveness. For salvation.
But mostly, I prayed for her. Every fucking prayer since has begun with her name.
I was supposed to destroy her, but she became the one thing I would destroy the world to keep.
I was meant to ruin her.
Instead, she became my ruin.

Please proceed with caution. This is a dark story, and it is not going to become lighter as it goes.
It contains themes of kidnapping, captivity, forced proximity, sexual violence, non-consensual situations, BDSM, psychological manipulation, coercion, abuse, and other heavy themes.
Some of these elements are part of the story itself and may be portrayed on-page.
This is dark romance, and the relationship at its center is not intended to be healthy, easy, or comfortable. Some parts may be difficult to read, and that is intentional.
I have chosen to be clear about these themes from the beginning so that everyone can decide for themselves whether this is a story they want to continue reading.
Please be kind to one another in the comments. You do not have to enjoy every part of the story, but different readers may respond to it in different ways. I ask that we respect those differences and keep the space free from bullying or shaming.
Thank you for reading, and for understanding.
