PROLOGUE
Sixteen Years Ago
The night was unusually quiet.
Kang Daniel stood in the hallway of his home, staring at the clock.
11:47 P.M.
His youngest daughter should have been asleep.
He opened the nursery door.
Empty.
His blood ran cold.
The crib was empty.
The window was slightly open.
And on the floor lay a tiny stuffed rabbit.
Daniel picked it up slowly.
"Ha-rin?"
No answer.
He searched the room again, as if she might somehow appear.
Nothing.
Then he noticed something else.
A small piece of paper lying beneath the window.
He picked it up.
There were only three words written on it.
You should have listened.
Daniel's expression hardened.
Within minutes, the entire house was awake.
Security searched the property.
Cars were sent throughout the city.
Phones rang.
Orders were shouted.
But there was no sign of the little girl.
No one knew where she had gone.
No one knew who had taken her.
And no one could explain how someone had managed to get past Kang Daniel's security.
By sunrise, one truth had become painfully clear.
Kang Ha-rin was gone.
Sixteen years later...
the world would know her as Choi Na-ri.
But that night, she was simply a little girl who had disappeared from her father's home.
And somewhere in the darkness...
