Prologue

The universe is vast.

Too vast to measure, too ancient to fathom. It stretches across the infinite black, where stars ignite in fiery explosions only to die in a final catastrophic burst. Whole galaxies spin like immense spirals of light, their celestial bodies locked in a graceful dance of creation and destruction. And somewhere in this endless sea of stars, beyond the farthest reaches of human exploration, there are secrets - ancient, hidden things waiting to be uncovered. Secrets that could change everything.

In the heart of this vast universe, there existed a small, unremarkable planet named Eridanus. To most, it was just a dot on a map, a place with nothing more to offer than barren soil and frigid air. Its two suns hung low on the horizon, casting long shadows that stretched across the desert landscape, the ground cracked and dry beneath the weight of unyielding winds. It was a world of silence, where the only sound was the hum of machinery, the creak of metal, and the steady thud of boots against the cold earth.

And yet, it was on this lonely world that the threads of fate began to weave together.

Orion Vega was born on Eridanus, to a family as ordinary as the world itself. His father, Jarek Vega, was a miner. A man who lived for the rumble of drills piercing the rock, the churning of gears, and the dull clang of metal on metal. He was strong, dependable, and dedicated to his work, like so many others who lived in the shadows of the galaxies forgotten corners. His mother, Kaela, had died when Orion was just a baby, taken by an illness that had swept through the colony. There had been no grand funeral, no ceremony to mark her passing. Her death had been as silent and unnoticed as her life.

It was only Orion and his father now, in this cold, desolate place where the stars seemed so distant, so unreachable.

Every day, Orion woke to the sound of his father's boots, the scraping tools on metal, the grinding hum of the mining colony's vast machinery. He had learned early to fix things - engines, power generators, old transport ships - whatever was broken, whatever needed mending. It was an odd form of solace, in a way. But no matter how hard he worked, no matter how much effort he put into repairing the broken technology of the colony, there was always a gnawing emptiness inside him. Something missing. Something more, something beyond the endless grind on Eridanus.

He dreamed of the stars. Every night, his thoughts drifted toward the shimmering lights in the sky, wondering what lay beyond the barren world he had been born into. He had heard stories of course. The great explorers who had ventured into the unknown, the ancient wars that had shaped the galaxy's history, the stories of the Star-Born - a race of beings said to be born from the very fabric of the cosmos, wielding powers unimaginable. But those were just stories. Legends. Myths told around campfires by weary travelers, passed down by word of mouth until they were little more than whispers in the dark.

But then, on a day that should have been like any other, something changed.

It started with a feeling - a pull, deep in his chest, as if something was calling him, urging him forward. Orion had been working in the repair bays, his hands covered in grease and dust, his focus on fixing an ancient shuttle engine when it happened. Something under the surface of the planet had shifted. It was subtle at first, the air thickening around him, the hum of the machinery beginning to fluctuate in strange patterns. The ground trembled slightly, as if responding to an unseen force. And then, there it was - a flash of light, too quick to catch, disappearing beneath the surface like a spark that vanished before it could catch fire.

He had gone to investigate, following an instinct he couldn't explain. His boots crunched over the rocky ground as he moved deeper into the hidden recesses of the colony, the walls of steel and stone growing tighter as he ventured further. And there, beneath the shadow of an old transport ship, half-buried in the dust, he saw it.

A relic.

It was unlike anything Orion had ever seen. Small, but intricately designed - golden in color, with patterns etched into its surface that seemed to glow faintly as if pulsing with energy. The object looked ancient, older than anything he could comprehend. His hand reached out without thinking, drawn by an unknown force. The moment his skin made contact, the world around him fractured.

Time bent.

The ground beneath him seemed to ripple, and the air hummed with a low, resonant vibration. It was as though the very universe had shifted, had bent to the will of whatever power lay within the object. The stars themselves seemed to pulse in rhythm with the object, as if they were acknowledging his touch. A voice, low and distant, filled his mind, though it was not a voice he had heard with his ears.

You are not alone, Orion Vega.

The words echoed in his mind, but they were not his own thoughts. They were something far older, something far more ancient. And in that instant, Orion realized - he was not just a boy on a forgotten planet. He was something more. The relic had chosen him. He was part of something much larger than the small, isolated life he had lived. Something far more powerful.

The object grew warmer in his hand, and he pulled it away instinctively, but not before the light from within it flared bright, searing his vision. For a moment, he saw images - flashes of ancient star systems, planets long lost to history, battles fought in the cold void of space. And then, just as suddenly as it began, it ended. The world around him snapped back into focus, and Orion was left standing alone in the shadows, the relic now cold in his grasp.

But the change had already began.

Over the next few days, strange things began to happen. Orion's senses became heightened. Sounds he had never noticed before - the low hum of energy flowing through the colony's power grid, the distant cry of a lone bird circling the sky - became clear as day. His body felt stronger, faster. He could move with a speed and precision that almost felt unnatural. He began to hear voices in his dreams - ancient voices, not human, but familiar. And they spoke to him of the Star-born, of the ancient race that had once ruled over the cosmos.

The Star-born.

It was not just a legend.

They were real. And Orion was one of them.

But the discovery of his true nature came with a price. As his powers grew, so too did the danger. There were others out there who knew of the Star-born, who hunted them, who would stop at nothing to capture the power that had flowed through their veins. They were called the Rift- a shadowy organization with designs on the entire galaxy. And they would stop at nothing to see the last of the Star-born wiped from existence.

Orion's life was no longer just about survival. It was about something far more important. His awakening had set into motion a chain of events that would change the galaxy forever.

And soon, he would learn that he was not alone in this fight.

On the day the sky above Eridanus darkened with the arrival of a strange vessel, Orion knew that his journey had truly begun.

Lyra Solara stepped onto the surface of Eridanus, her eyes scanning the horizon. She had come from the heart of the galaxy, from the seat of the Federation, and though she had a thousand reasons to remain distant from Orion, her mission was clear. She had been sent there to find him, to guide him, to awaken him to the true purpose of his existence.

But even she, with all her training and knowledge, did not know the full extent of the power Orion had now held.

The universe was vast. But the battle for the cosmos had just begun.

Kritta_820: I enjoyed the storyline immensely and felt that it devolved from the average "small puny female wolf finds a royal mate." Sometimes the jumps between scenes and plots jumped ahead a little too far for my taste. For example when MC heard the update about her first mate the book suddenly changed to th...
