The Man Who Was Given Another Life
GENESIS OF THE STAR KINGDOM
The Fifth Son Who Built a Kingdom
Chapter 1 — The Man Who Was Given Another Life
A Dream of Starting Over
Renji Takamura had never considered himself extraordinary.
At twenty-eight years old, he was simply another ordinary man trying to make it through life. He worked, paid his bills, came home tired, and sometimes wondered what his life might have looked like if he had made different choices.
That night, walking home through Japan, he looked toward the sky.
“I wonder what it would be like to start everything over.”
It was not a wish for revenge or fame. He simply wanted another chance—to learn more, build something, and live without constantly wondering what he could have done differently.
Then everything went dark.
The End of One Life
The sound came first: a horn, followed by the screech of tires.
Renji barely had time to turn before the world disappeared beneath a flash of white.
There was no grand final speech. Only one thought.
So this is it...
Then silence.
Renji Takamura’s first life ended.
The Celestial Court
When Renji opened his eyes, he was standing beneath a sky filled with impossible stars. A vast crystal platform stretched beneath his feet, and seven enormous thrones stood before him.
A woman on the central throne smiled. She had long golden hair and radiant eyes.
“My name is Aurelia. I am the Goddess of Creation.”
The other six introduced themselves: Valen, God of War; Seraphine, Goddess of Knowledge; Orion, God of Space; Elysia, Goddess of Life; Noctis, God of Death; and Lunara, Goddess of Fate.
Renji stared at them.
“Where am I?”
Aurelia answered gently. “You have died, Renji Takamura.”
Why Renji Was Chosen
Aurelia explained that Renji would be given another life on Astria, a world filled with magic and many races.
Ancient magic was awakening. Powerful creatures were returning. Lost civilizations were emerging, and supernatural systems were beginning to interact in ways unseen for thousands of years.
“But you want me to save the world?” Renji asked.
“No,” Aurelia replied. “We want to see what an ordinary person can accomplish when given another chance.”
The answer surprised him. He had expected a prophecy or some grand destiny.
Instead, the gods were asking him to live.
Not to become a chosen hero.
Simply to live—and perhaps change something along the way.
The Genesis Cycle
The gods called Astria’s coming era the Genesis Cycle.
Magic was evolving. Ancient forces were moving again. Ruins were appearing, powerful beings were awakening, and the boundaries between supernatural systems were weakening.
Aurelia raised her hand. Light gathered in her palm.
“This is Genesis.”
The light entered Renji’s chest.
“Genesis allows you to create, develop, transform, and improve things,” Aurelia explained. “But you must understand what you create. Complex creations require knowledge, resources, and energy.”
Renji understood immediately. Genesis was powerful, but it was not effortless.
Mirror
Seraphine granted Renji a second ability: Mirror.
Mirror allowed him to observe, analyze, mimic, and eventually replicate things he truly understood.
“You cannot casually copy a person’s soul, unlimited divine authority, or powers completely beyond your comprehension,” Seraphine warned.
Renji considered the possibilities.
“So I learn something, copy it, and then use Genesis to improve it?”
Aurelia smiled.
“Exactly.”
Observe. Analyze. Understand. Replicate. Improve.
The combination was extraordinary—but it demanded learning.
A Warning
Noctis spoke quietly.
“Power does not make an action right.”
Aurelia continued. “Creation is not automatically good simply because something has been created.”
Valen added, “And strength is not the same as wisdom.”
Renji understood. If he could create weapons, he could create disasters. If he could improve magic, he could improve destructive magic. If he could build a kingdom, he could also build something that harmed its people.
Lunara looked into his eyes.
“Your greatest challenge may not be becoming powerful. It may be deciding what should be done with that power.”
Another Beginning
Aurelia told Renji he would be reborn as a child.
“You won’t give me everything?” he asked.
“No.”
Renji smiled. “Good. If I’m going to have another life, I want it to actually feel like one.”
Aurelia smiled back.
“Then live.”
Light surrounded him.
His memories remained. His consciousness remained. But his old body disappeared.
Aurelia’s final words followed him into the light.
“Your story will not be written for you.”
The Fifth Son
A baby’s cry echoed through an aging noble estate.
A woman lay exhausted in a bedroom while a stern man with tired eyes stood beside her.
“A healthy boy, my lord.”
The man stared at the newborn and smiled.
“Ren,” he whispered.
Lady Evelina Arclight smiled. “Ren Arclight.”
House Arclight was respected, but its wealth was disappearing. Poor harvests, declining trade, debt, estate repairs, and the sale of magical artifacts had pushed the family toward poverty.
Ren was the fifth son, meaning he was unlikely to inherit the family title. That would eventually give him a freedom his older brothers did not have.
A Family on the Brink
Ren grew up surrounded by people who cared for him. Cedric prepared to inherit. Leon trained with a sword. Adrian studied magic. Felix caused trouble whenever he became bored. His sisters, Seraphina and Emilia, brought warmth to the household.
But Ren noticed things other children ignored.
There were fewer servants. Meals became simpler. Repairs were delayed. His father spent long nights studying financial ledgers, while his mother treated villagers who could not afford healers.
One night, Ren saw his father sitting alone.
“We cannot keep selling land,” Lord Alistair whispered.
Ren did not understand everything yet.
But he understood one thing.
His new family was in trouble.
The Child Who Remembered
By age three, Ren had recovered most of his memories from Japan.
He did not tell anyone. Instead, he watched, listened, and learned.
Books became his favorite things: history, magic, agriculture, engineering, trade, and medicine.
His mother eventually noticed.
“You understand this?” she asked.
Ren nodded.
Evelina stared at him for several seconds before smiling.
“You really are unusual.”
Ren smiled back.
He still did not tell her about the gods.
Genesis Awakens
At five years old, Ren found a broken wooden toy in a storage room.
He remembered Aurelia’s warning.
You must understand what you create.
“Genesis.”
A faint golden light surrounded his hand. The pieces moved for a moment, then collapsed.
Ren stared.
“...That didn’t work.”
He tried again. Nothing.
He sighed.
“So that’s the condition.”
Genesis was not a shortcut.
It was a challenge.
Ren smiled.
“Then I’ll learn.”
The First Flame
Ren went to the family library and found a beginner’s book on elemental magic.
He studied mana, circulation, affinities, and elemental structure. He practiced the breathing exercises and slowly felt an unfamiliar energy moving inside him.
Mana.
He guided it through his body.
At first, nothing happened.
Then a tiny spark appeared above his fingertip.
Ren froze.
The spark became a small flame.
He stared at it in wonder.
This was not divine power simply being handed to him. This was something he had learned. Something he had built.
The golden glow of Genesis appeared faintly behind him.
Ren looked at the tiny flame and smiled.
“I wonder...” he whispered.
“How far can I take this?”
Outside, the wind moved across the Arclight estate.
The world of Astria continued turning.
And somewhere beyond the stars, seven gods watched in silence.
Ren Arclight had taken his first step.
One day, he would build something far greater than he could imagine: a kingdom, a future, and a world shaped not by what he was given, but by what he chose to create.
