Chapter 1

The Many Faces of Selene

Long ago, the Moon was not simply a glowing stone in the sky.

She was Selene, the Moon Keeper, and every night she changed her face.

She had four names for her four great faces:

Luna — the New Moon, keeper of beginnings and darkness.

Diana — the Crescent Moon, watcher of growing things.

Phoebe — the Full Moon, bright queen of the night.

Nyx — the Waning Moon, keeper of endings and rest.

But Selene had a problem.

The people of Earth did not understand why the world changed whenever her face changed.

So one night, she called upon Gaia, the spirit of Earth.

"Why does the sea rise when I grow bright?" Selene asked.

Gaia smiled.

"Because everything in my world feels your pull."

And that was when Selene discovered something wonderful:

She did not control Earth. She danced with it.

🌑 Chapter One — Luna, the Hidden Moon

Before the first silver crescent appeared, the Moon disappeared from the night sky.

This was Luna's face.

The world became darker.

Owls flew beneath the stars.

Foxes crept through the forests.

Tiny creatures that feared the light came out of their hiding places.

Even the flowers seemed to fold themselves inward.

Luna whispered to Earth:

"Do not be afraid of the darkness. Darkness is where beginnings hide."

Beneath the soil, seeds rested.

Roots stretched quietly through the earth.

And while people could not see it, life was preparing itself.

The New Moon taught Earth its first lesson:

Not everything that grows can be seen.

🌒 Chapter Two — Diana, the Growing Light

Then, one evening, a tiny silver curve appeared in the sky.

Diana had arrived.

She was young and bright, like a silver smile.

Each night she grew a little larger.

As her light increased, people stayed outside longer. Travelers could see farther along the roads. Animals changed their nightly routines.

And beneath the soil, plants continued reaching upward.

"Grow," Diana whispered.

"Reach for the light."

The Moon pulled gently on Earth's great oceans too.

The tides began to rise and fall in their endless rhythm.

The sea came toward the shore.

Then it returned.

Toward the shore.

Then away.

Like the Earth itself was breathing.

Diana smiled.

"Everything has a rhythm."

🌕 Chapter Three — Phoebe, the Full Moon

Then came the night when Selene became completely full.

Phoebe rose above the mountains.

The entire sky seemed to glow.

Silver light spilled across forests, rivers, fields, and oceans.

The sea rose higher beneath her pull.

Waves rolled toward the shore like shining mountains.

Animals behaved differently beneath the bright night.

Some creatures hunted.

Others hid.

Some traveled.

And some simply stared upward.

Even people paused to admire her.

Phoebe looked down at Earth.

"Why does my light change so many things?"

Gaia answered:

"Because the world is connected."

The Moon tugged at the oceans.

The oceans moved.

The tides shaped beaches and rocky shores.

Animals responded to the changing light.

People noticed the difference between a bright night and a dark one.

The Full Moon did not command Earth.

It influenced it.

Like a friend gently pulling another friend into a dance.

🌘 Chapter Four — Nyx, the Waning Moon

But every dance must slow.

Phoebe began to shrink.

Night after night, the bright circle became smaller.

She became Nyx, the Waning Moon.

Her light softened.

The nights grew darker again.

The tides continued their ancient rhythm.

Animals changed their behavior.

Plants prepared for another cycle.

And the Earth seemed to sigh.

"Why must you disappear?" Gaia asked.

Nyx smiled.

"Because nothing can remain at its fullest forever."

The Moon's light faded.

But it never truly left.

Soon, she would become Luna again.

And the cycle would begin anew.

🌎 The Secret of the Moon

Selene finally understood the truth.

Her phases were not four separate powers.

They were one endless cycle.

Beginning.

Growth.

Fullness.

Rest.

Beginning again.

And Earth changed alongside her.

The oceans followed her gravitational pull.

The night creatures responded to changing light.

Plants and animals followed ancient rhythms.

And people looked toward the sky, searching for meaning in her changing face.

From that day forward, Selene never wondered why Earth changed.

She understood.

The Moon did not rule Earth.

The Moon danced with Earth.

And every month, they danced the same ancient dance again.

🌑 🌒 🌓 🌔 🌕 🌖 🌗 🌘

And that is why, if you look carefully at the Moon, you are not watching her simply change shape.

You are watching Earth and Moon move together through an ancient rhythm that has been turning for billions of years.

kitkatbar29: So this first book in this series I liked. A good plot that flowed well for the most part with some twists along the way, good well developed characters... there are a few technical mistakes, but nothing to harsh. I must say toward the end of the book there were some issues with like a quick change ...

Kritta_820: I enjoyed the storyline immensely and felt that it devolved from the average "small puny female wolf finds a royal mate." Sometimes the jumps between scenes and plots jumped ahead a little too far for my taste. For example when MC heard the update about her first mate the book suddenly changed to th...
