Preface
Centuries ago, the gods bestowed the gift of immortality upon eight human bloodlines. Their descendants became the Supernatural: vampires, werewolves, sirens, witches, and other gifted races who spread throughout Treasure Kingdom. The problem with their gift is they could no longer breed. So, they return to their human bloodline to turn the first born of each generation. Their brood.
Mankind never learned the difference between a supernatural and a monster.
While demons created savage beasts that preyed upon humanity, the Supernatural simply wished to live in peace. To frightened eyes, however, fangs were fangs, claws were claws, and magic was magic. Fear became hatred, and hatred became persecution.
The Supernatural were hunted.
When mankind’s persecution became too much to bear, an ancient vampire named Max Zion established a sanctuary. Hidden deep within the mountains, he gathered the scattered races into a forgotten village; a refuge for creatures with nowhere else to run. But every sanctuary has a price.
Every city in the kingdom has secrets. Some lurked in shadows and forgotten alleyways. Others hide behind wealth, influence, and carefully crafted reputations. Glitter City keeps both.
To the outside world, Glitter City is a prosperous center of trade known for its festivals, thriving businesses, and powerful families. Royalty praises its unmatched safety. Noble estates overlook bustling marketplaces. Merchant guilds compete for lucrative contracts. Modern technology stands beside ancient stone buildings that have witnessed centuries of history.
Duke Simon’s military and the Hunting Guild faithfully protect the people from the monsters that roam beyond the city walls. What no one realizes is that Glitter City’s greatest protectors are the very people they fear.
Rather than rule through fear, Max built his legacy upon something mankind already understood: greed. He disguised his kingdom as a mafia. Businesses became fronts. Influence became protection. Debts became alliances. Every contract, every favor, and every whispered threat served a single purpose: to keep the Supernatural hidden...
...and the innocent alive.
To the public, the Zion family owns nothing more than a prestigious chain of fine-dining restaurants. They are respected entrepreneurs, generous benefactors, and one of the most influential families in the kingdom.
Only those within the sanctuary know the truth. No one asks questions or wanders around in the dark.
For the first time in centuries, the title of Don passed from his brood. Xavier Zion inherited far more than wealth or power. He inherited a promise to keep. Protect the city, the family, the secrets. No matter the cost.
Three years into his reign, rival clans have begun testing old borders. What was once whispered envy has grown into open defiance, and every challenge threatens the peace his ancestors fought to preserve.
Yet the greatest danger is not the rival clans or the monsters that stalk the night.
It is one ordinary young woman.
Liz Archer, a country girl from the quiet farming district of Emerald Valley, comes to Glitter City hoping to leave behind a broken heart and begin again. The city also happens to be home to her closest friend; a pen pal she has spent the last ten years talking to.
She knows her only as Sage.
They promised never to exchange real names, addresses, or meet in person. It was supposed to be safer that way. Over time details slipped and Liz couldn’t help herself.
Will she finally meet her long lost friend or make new ones?
