The story

There are moments when life spins entirely out of our hands, yet we keep pushing forward. We strive, even when we realize that not every dream we built can be brought to life.

Time and time again, we are forced to see that the world is shifting. We can never truly return to the way things used to be. The change begins quietly, long before we even notice it, and realization only strikes when the transformation is already complete. Nothing holds still. Every chapter has its first page and its final line, whether it is a life, a season, or the fleeting thoughts we hold true today that fade by tomorrow.

Today, everything changed for me.

When we are small, we are taught to look up, to listen to our elders, and to learn. But as the years pass, the truths we relied on begin to fracture. The opinions we carried so fiercely lose their weight. As children, we spent hours dreaming of what it would mean to grow up, imagining ourselves exploring a vast, endless world. Yet, standing on the other side of youth, it feels as though those grand ideas were a mere illusion. Nothing looks the way we thought it would.

The reality hit me all at once today, carried in a single word from a child's voice: "Aunt."

In that split second, the clock reset. I am no longer standing in the warm light of yesterday; I am an adult. Ahead of me lies a landscape of real challenges, heavy responsibilities, and a future dictated by marriage, stability, and serious choices. For a moment, a cold fear settled in—the dread that there is no more room left for childish thoughts, no more space for games, and no more freedom to simply explore. It feels like it is just me, facing an unpredictable future, wondering exactly where this life is going to take me.

Maggie Varnum: Like that it was fast paced and suspenseful...loved the romance up ended a little to fast ...would have been better if there was a Luna ceremony chapter and a birth of son with name chapter with Cole as a dramatic dad in the delivery scene .... Overall I enjoyed it very much!
