Maybe More Than Best Friends

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

Avari never expected a new friendship to become so important so quickly. After meeting Vanellope at school, the two thirteen-year-old girls become best friends in only three months. They laugh together, share secrets, and slowly become inseparable. But Avari soon realizes that her feelings for Vanellope might be more than friendship. There’s just one problem: she’s terrified to tell her. What if Vanellope doesn’t feel the same way? What if telling her destroys the friendship they worked so hard to build? As Avari struggles with her secret, she discovers that sometimes being honest is scarier than keeping quiet—and sometimes the people we’re most afraid to lose are the people worth trusting. Through awkward moments, new friendships, changing schools, and the leap from seventh grade into eighth grade, Avari and Vanellope must discover what their friendship really means. Will Avari find the courage to follow her heart, or will fear keep her from finding out what could be waiting on the other side?

Chapter 1

Avari had only known Vanellope for three months.

Three months wasn’t a very long time.

But somehow, it felt like Vanellope had been part of her life for much longer.

They had met at school near the beginning of the year. At first, they barely talked. Then they started sitting together at lunch. Soon they were texting each other after school, laughing about silly things and sharing secrets.

Before Avari knew it, Vanellope had become her best friend.

They were both thirteen, and Avari had started noticing something she hadn’t expected.

She liked Vanellope.

Not just as a friend.

She liked the way Vanellope made her laugh. She liked how Vanellope always noticed when she was having a bad day. She liked how easy it was to talk to her.

But there was one problem.

They had only known each other for three months.

Was it too soon to tell her?

Avari didn’t know.

And she was terrified that if she said something, she might lose the friendship they’d built.

So she kept her feelings to herself.

At least for now.

PARIS IN THE DARK

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel

Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.
