2. Adrian Blackthorne

4. Lucien Valehart

5. Queen Seraphine Veyne

Once the ruler of the kingdom, Seraphine is remembered as a tragic queen who died in a palace fire. Her history has been rewritten, her face removed from certain portraits, and her daughter taught to forget her.
Secret: She deliberately erased Elara’s royal identity.
Weakness: She believes that protecting someone gives her the right to choose their fate.

6. Headmaster Alistair Crowe
The Keeper of Blackthorne
Formal, calculating, and fiercely protective of the academy’s reputation. He welcomes Elara as though her arrival was expected, but refuses to explain why.
Secret: He knows why the academy’s bell has remained silent for seventeen years.
Weakness: He believes some truths must remain buried to preserve peace.
