THE INTERVIEW
A 23-year-old young man is sitting on a sofa. A woman walks in and sits on the sofa opposite him. She switches on her microphone and says, “Okay.” The cameraman turns on the camera. The interview is ready to begin.
The woman smiled politely. “I’m Regina. And you, sir? You’re the one who escaped from that street, aren’t you?”
He froze for a moment. Tears welled up in his eyes, but he managed a faint smile.
“Yes,” he replied. “I’m the one.”
REGINA: “Sir?”
He didn’t respond. The man wiped away his tears with his hand.
AFEEZ: “Yeah, I’m Afeez. I’m the one who escaped from the street, but I’m living a life filled with pain. Everyone has left me… Why do I even want to be alive?”
He shouted the last words, then paused.
AFEEZ: “Sorry.”
He forced a painful smile, trying to hide the emotions that had overwhelmed him.
AFEEZ: “You all might think I’m lucky to have survived, but it’s been a curse to live without any of my friends. Being alone for nearly six years has been painful.”
The cameraman suddenly noticed something strange. Without even looking at the camera, Afeez’s hand was covered in cut injuries. His expression changed, and he began to collapse.
Before anyone could react, Afeez fell to the floor.
