Dark Moon Waxing

Summary

The Society of the Dark Moon is officially too big for their old covenstead. The good news: they’re moving. The less good news: Michaela — “Lilith Morningstar,” thank you very much — has decided that Kathia Sital is her rival, her nemesis, and the one person who needs to acknowledge her existence. Kathia has not acknowledged her existence. Meanwhile: Svana is running a music class for the kids, one of whom has started greeting adults with “FLAPPITY FLAPPITY FLAPS.” Ashley is trying to quietly rebuild her life, which is going fine until her old jacket shows back up. And someone on the Acolytes of Lilith is getting shadowbanned on WitchPulse — they just don’t know it yet. Dark Moon Waxing — the Society of the Dark Moon, Book Two. The coven is bigger. The chaos is proportional.

Prologue

PROLOGUE

Kathia, Tayla, Ali, Francis, Patrice, Delores, and Martha were currently standing outside a VERY large cathedral near Stone Mountain.

“Um…Kathia?” Ali asked. “This building looks like it should be a historical landmark. How’d you pull this off?”

“The entire congregation left to be missionaries in the Amazon Rainforest,” Kathia said. “Yeah, they didn’t make it back.”

Everyone gasped.

Kathia stared at everyone for a moment.

“Girrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl,” Francis mumbled under his breath.

“Stop PLAYING, Kathia!” Patrice said.

“I’m not. But that’s okay!” Kathia said. “Their wandering spirits are more than welcome to join us at the next Samhain.”

“Christians at a pagan celebration,” Patrice said. “Sounds about right, they stole EVERYTHING ELSE from us.”

“It looks like it needs a lot of work done,” Tayla said.

“Understatement of THE YEAR, honey,” Francis said.

“We’ve got over two-hundred members now,” Kathia said. “We can do a lot of the work ourselves, and hire contractors for the things we can’t. Simple!”

“Contractors?” Francis said. “Girrrrrrrl, more like blacksmiths and stonemasons.”

Everyone started laughing.

“Okay Francis,” Kathia said. “I have to admit, that was a good one. But I feel like we can pull this off.”

“How big is the kitchen?” Martha asked.

“Probably big as hell, Martha,” Delores said. “Some of my ancestors probably worked in that kitchen, and they’re looking at me real sideways right now.”

“Not touching that,” Kathia said. “Anyway, how about we go take a look?”

She walked up the steps and opened the doors.

“Here’s to new beginnings, everyone!”
