THEN THEY WERE THREE (Paranormal Lesbian Romance)

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

In 1990s New Orleans, love isn’t a sanctuary—it’s a shared madness. Twenty-three-year-old Sibyl and her lover, Coraline, are a match made in hell’s finest corners. A renegade necromancer burdened by the whispers of the dead and a witch haunted by a tragedy in her past, they escape their horrific homes by running the humid city streets wild. Together, they live on stolen liquor, dark magic, and a passionate, bruised kind of devotion. They fight like hell, but they belong to each other. Then Afsana walks into a dim tavern. Ancient, alluring, and deadly, the vampire eliminates Sibyl’s nightmare of a father with a smile—and steals Sibyl’s heart in the same blood-soaked breath. But Afsana isn't just a savior; she’s a predator on a mission to harvest Sibyl’s rare necromancer power for her coven. She just didn't count on two things: falling genuinely in love with Sibyl, and getting tangled in an equally filthy, clandestine affair with Coraline. When jealousies flare and blood-thirsty agendas clash, lines aren't just crossed—they're erased. In a city where witches and vampires are sworn enemies, three lovers are playing a game of seduction and deceit. And when the truth finally breaks, someone will have to burn.

Chapter 1

CHAPTER ONE

The stream glistened under the moonlight as Sibyl smoked a cigar on the grass while Coraline took a dip, naked.

She was showing off. Sibyl thought as she took another long drag of the cigar. She loved to watch Coraline show off; she loved the dimples just above her shapely bum, she loved her wide hips, her smooth glistening skin, and most importantly she loved the twinkle in Coraline’s eyes when she was turned on.

“Come join me, Sibyl. You know you want to.” Coraline swam closer to the bank, giving Sibyl a good view of her nipples, which had now hardened.

Sibyl grinned wolfishly and threw the cigar to the ground. After all, she didn’t even like cigars. She’d only been trying to enjoy the loot they’d stolen from the unsuspecting young man from earlier, who Coraline had cast a spell on to give them all he owned.

Sibyl pulled off her clothes as she walked to the stream, leaving just her underwear on. She waded into the water towards Coraline and shivered.

Coraline pulled Sibyl towards her, placing a palm gently on Sibyl’s waist.

“I could make the water warmer for you.” She said softly, seductively.

Coraline closed her eyes and whispered; Dlo, chofe kounye a. Water, warm up now.

Sibyl smiled as the water grew warmer. She placed a chaste kiss on Coraline’s lips.

“Thank you. I love you.”

“That really all I am going to get?”

“Maybe.” Sibyl teased. Coraline shook her head before pulling Sibyl in for a deeper kiss, one hand beneath her chin and the second one sneaking down to gently caress Sibyl’s lower belly, a trick Coraline had learnt after four years of fucking Sibyl. Sibyl moaned into the kiss before pulling away.

“You know, I wish I could make the water warm for us too,” Sibyl said gently, as Coraline’s hand dipped lower.

“Hmm,” Coraline was only half listening, as she was too preoccupied, lightly playing with Sibyl’s clit, and nipping at her neck.

“Cora,” Sibyl groaned, feeling herself get wet and Coraline’s forefinger now lightly teasing her opening, spreading the wetness to her clit.

“I suppose you could call one of your dead friends to watch.” Coraline went back in for the kiss, and Sibyl responded in equal ferocity, palming Coraline’s breast and pinching the nipple slightly between her fingers.

Sibyl spun Coraline around, making her ass grind against her crotch. She trailed kisses from Coraline’s left ear, down to her shoulders.

Slowly, she eased her finger into Coraline, forcing a gasp out of her. She curled her finger upward before thrusting it into her repeatedly, causing Coraline to buck backwards.

“Oh…Sibyl…yes, please.”

Sibyl grinned, before mumbling filthy things in Coraline’s ears.

Coraline rode her fingers wildly, her eyes closed with tears streaming down her face as she screamed into the night with enthusiastic pleasure.

Plea after plea falling off her lips until Sibyl felt Coraline’s vaginal muscle spasm multiple times around her fingers and she relaxed against Sibyl’s breasts.

They both let the water cradle them gently for five more minutes before they both started swimming towards the bank.

“I am exhausted,” Coraline mumbled as she pulled herself out of the river, giving Sibyl’s abandoned cigar at the bank a dirty look.

“It wasn’t half bad.” Sibyl defended.

“It ain’t dope. We should hit up Uncle Darius.”

“Darius is not my uncle,” Sibyl said, annoyance tinging her voice. “I told you he keeps feeling on me.”

“I will go get some for us alone then instead,” Coraline said as she threw on her muu muu. She sighed at how heavy the water had made her dreadlocks.

“So he can just feel on you instead.”

“Sibyl, we were having such a nice time. Darius…forget him.”

“No! I am going home.” Still only in her underwear, and trying to prove a point, Sibyl threw her gown on her shoulders, her cornrows already loosening because of the dip, and briskly started walking again.

Coraline went after her, struggling to keep up with Sibyl’s long legs.

“Sibyl, I will get it from somewhere else then.”

“It is not just about Darius…”

“It is always something with you, is it not?”

Sibyl turned around swiftly. “I see you still haven’t forgiven me for the week before.”

“How can you say that when I’d just ridden your fingers?”

“You ride anyone’s fingers!” Sibyl screamed into her face. “Fuck you, I am going home.”

Sibyl didn’t stay to listen to whatever insult or apology, depending on Coraline’s mood, before she broke into a run. Just before getting into the streets, she threw her dress on, still faintly hearing Coraline calling on her from behind.

She had to get home before her no-good daddy woke up anyway. She couldn’t afford any more liquor bottles thrown at her face.

Every day, she hoped her father would drop dead. Every day, she yearned for him to one day be one of the ghosts who begged her to deliver a message to their loved ones so she could tell him no. Sibyl couldn’t imagine her father loving anyone. He used to beat on her mama before she died. And she was the replacement.

Sibyl strained to see if she could still hear Coraline, and after a minute, she realized she couldn’t anymore.

By the time Sibyl got home, it was well past 4:00 am.

Miss Susanne from down the block was playing some slinky jazz.

Sibyl eased the front door open and listened. Nothing. She sighed in relief as she saw her father passed out on the floor with a cup of gin he must have knocked over in his sleep because it was all over the carpet.

He was going to make her clean it up tomorrow.

Coraline too must be walking through her front door now, she thought. She tried not to think about Coraline as she found that everything was followed with an encompassing guilt that made her skin feel heavy. She felt guilty about the week before and now tonight.

She felt so terribly ashamed for how she’d acted.

She’d always hated the fact that Coraline had a boy she was with to put up a facade with her mama. Jamal, a filthy shit-talking boy who wouldn’t stop talking about getting lucky with Coraline and spreading it like gospel through the French Quarter. Coraline hadn’t minded the rumors. She’d laughed maniacally when Sibyl brought it up.

Jealous and enraged, Sibyl had gotten hold of Jamal’s home answering machine. It hadn't been easy, as she’d had to go to his dead aunt’s tombstone to have a chat, an action that had taken a lot out of her. But she persisted; she left a message for him to come to Coraline’s house, and she’d timed it oh so perfectly so her tongue was lapping at Coraline’s wet folds when Jamal walked in.

She’d done all of these without Coraline’s knowledge. Sibyl had never seen Coraline so enraged. Neither did she think a plain, senseless boy like Jamal could have such a violent reaction. Needless to say, it was a mess. They both had to wrestle Jamal to the ground, with Coraline casting a spell, which, according to her, she wasn’t exactly too sure of, that worked to keep him calm and wipe just his memories of her tongue in Coraline’s vagina.

Coraline stonewalled her for four days before she eventually came to Sibyl’s to talk it out.

They didn’t talk.

One look at Coraline in her short cotton dress, eyes all stormy from anger, made Sibyl feel even worse, and she’d groveled for a minute before Coraline had pulled her up for her punishing kiss, angry bites in between. There was still a little twinge of pain whenever Sibyl’s tongue touched the place where she’d been bitten on her tender, swollen lips.

Sibyl shook her head, trying to physically rid herself of those thoughts.

One hour later, the dawn’s breeze lulled her to sleep. And she dreamt of a huge pit with withered bodies; a woman stood at the edge, blood on her lips and her clothes torn.

Sibyl screamed, but the night swallowed her scream. The girl at the edge of the pit turned to look at her, but she was faceless. Sibyl stumbled backwards, tripping clumsily before eventually running in the other direction.

Help me, Sibyl. Help me! Help. Help us. Sibyl! Sibyl!” The faceless girl kept yelling until her words were all jumbled up.

Sibyl ran with all her might, passing through the trees swiftly, begging the faceless girl to leave her be.

But as Sibyl looked up to see how far she’d gone, she found that she was in front of the pit again.

A piercing wail escaped her, but not because of the pit but because her horrible father was now shaking her awake.

“Go clean the carpets.” He told her slowly, his face distorted with pure, unfiltered rage.

“Yes.” She mumbled meekly, and because you could never tell with her father, that made him even more furious. He backhanded her harshly, mumbling something incoherently.

Sibyl stood up quickly to escape him. With any luck, he’d go empty another bottle of spirit soon and be unconscious again.

There wasn’t such luck for her.

“I was cursed…” He began, waving his hands theatrically in the air as she got the mop to clean up the carpets. “I was cursed with a whore daughter. I waited and waited for you to come home. A whore just like your mother, eh?”

Sibyl had found that it was best to just let him talk, but that didn’t stop the pain that seized her being as her father spoke.

“Whore! How much do you let men stick it in for? Tell me!” He screamed in her face.

“I will bring you some food.” Sibyl managed. He looked at her dumbly before walking out of the house without another word.

She fell to her knees and sobbed on the soiled carpets. Oh, how she wished she was good with Coraline so she could head straight for Coraline’s house and cry on her shoulders.

She picked herself up moments later to clean the carpet and start on cooking before her father wandered back in. No doubt, he’d gone to get some alcohol.

Two hours later, the entire house was spotless. Sibyl heard the door groan, and she flinched. Her father was back.

She waited for him to scream her name, but she heard nothing. She walked out from the kitchen to check, and Coraline sat on the chair, rigid.

“Wha—”

“I went to Uncle Darius,” Coraline said, that weird calm still evident on her features. Her black lace dress was tainted with mud.

“Coraline, you need to leave. My father will be here soon.”

“Didn’t you hear me?” Coraline stood up suddenly. “I went to Uncle Darius.” She screamed.

“I don’t know what you want me to say,” Sibyl said, feeling very drained and confused about the game Coraline seemed to be playing.

“I want you to ask if I rode his fingers.”

“No, Cora. I am not going to do that.”

“Sibyl, you need to ask me.” She was shaking now. Sibyl wasn’t sure if it was from anger or the tears that were now brimming in Coraline’s eyes.

“No.”

“Ask me! Ask me now! ASKKKK!”

“Let’s not do this. I don’t want to do this anymore.”

“Oh,” Coraline muttered softly before the tears eventually started falling. Sibyl held her as she cried.

“I am sorry. I didn’t mean to say that. I wasn’t…I was just mad.” Sibyl started to soothe her. “I love you, Coraline. I am sorry. Just…let’s talk about this later. My father will be home soon.”

Coraline pulled away and started to wipe her tears jerkily.

“I do not care, Sibyl. I rode Uncle Darius’s fingers.” She said with a smile. “I mean, I ride everyone’s fingers.” Sibyl looked at her in disbelief.

“Are you saying that to hurt me?” Sibyl asked.

“Yes, but it happened.”

“GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE!” Sibyl screamed. “And never come back.”

Coraline blew Sibyl a kiss before strutting out. Sibyl sank to the floor and wept all over again.
