The enchanting Blackbird
Prologue :
My encounter with that enchanting Blackbird captivated me. So beautiful, so perfect—yet full of illusions.
The feathers fell away, giving way to the Homing Pigeon, to the Raven. I was the Ugly Duckling, the one no one wanted. The bad omen was there, but I was still dreaming; I had buried my head in the sand like an ostrich.
What a fool I was—mistaking the situation for a Nightingale’s song when things were far from wonderful.
The Stork finally arrived to open my crow-like eyes.
That was when I had a choice, and I summoned my courage. The courage to follow the butterfly-bird, to transform into a Swan, and to fly—freely.

Chapter 1 - The enchanting Blackbird :
Once upon a time—at a specific moment in my life—there was an eighteen-year-old girl:
How handsome he was! That man was so handsome—taller, older, the kind of man who made hearts melt with his beautiful green eyes.
And then there was me: a petite, eighteen-year-old brunette who had just come of age—still so naive, seeing the good in everyone and everything around me.
That Saturday night changed my life. I wasn’t supposed to go out; deep down, I don’t think I really wanted to... I should have listened to my gut. Yes, I really should have. But I went out with my girlfriends to go dancing that Saturday night. And that’s when I saw him—I spotted that handsome man right away. He saw me too, and everything unfolded—at first, just like a dream.
We texted back and forth, and we laughed so much! He flattered me, too, and made me feel like I was living a dream. He was independent; he had his own car, a job, and a steady income. I saw him as the man of my life. He would pick me up from school in his car, and we’d drive around town. He even bought me a dress because he thought I looked beautiful in it. He took me out to restaurants; we went places—we even traveled to Bern with my parents to visit a museum. We held barbecues in my garden with friends, played badminton... the good life, you know?
My eyes were full of dreams. He was the man who introduced me to love, real love, and joy. He wiped away my past disappointments. He was the one; I felt loved, and I loved him so much.
One evening, he even said to me:
You are the woman of my life.
His eyes were full of love—almost teary, I think. In that moment, I remember seeing his soul and his sincerity. Those words were etched into me like an indelible tattoo. I was so happy; everything was so simple. I had found the man of my life, and he, too, saw me as the woman of his life.
So, what could possibly go wrong?
