Chapter 1: Please Proceed to Another World
[Please proceed to another world as soon as possible to activate the Allworld Trait System.]
Lin Mo had been hearing that voice for as long as he could remember.
When he first heard it at the age of five, he thought he was some kind of chosen one. He was so excited that he barely slept for three days.
At ten, he began seriously researching the possibility of traveling to another world. He had even secretly tried jumping into his family’s bathtub, wondering if it might trigger some hidden mechanism.
By fifteen, he had finally accepted a simple fact: his system might just be an idiot.
After turning twenty, he gave up trying to figure it out altogether.
For twenty-three years, the voice had repeated the same sentence inside his head. It had never offered him a beginner’s gift, displayed a status screen, or given him even the slightest hint about how to activate it.
All it did was remind him to travel to another world.
As if that were something he could do whenever he felt like it.
Lin Mo had long since learned to ignore it.
After all, he had more pressing problems to worry about.
He had just graduated from college and was struggling to make ends meet by taking whatever odd jobs he could find. Most recently, he had been working as a background actor, sometimes spending twelve hours on set just to earn a little money.
By the time he finally got home that evening, he was exhausted.
He checked his phone. It was October 15—his twenty-third birthday.
Not that it meant much. There was no birthday cake waiting for him, no friends throwing him a surprise party, and certainly no mysterious benefactor about to change his life.
He was just hungry.
All he wanted was to get inside, cook himself a bowl of noodles, and go to bed.
He unlocked the door to his rented room and stepped inside.
Then he froze.
Someone was sitting on his bed.
It was a woman with long black hair, dressed in close-fitting black leather. Her clothes were stained with blood, and one hand was pressed against her abdomen, where blood seeped through the fabric.
In her other hand was a gun.
The muzzle was pointed directly at him.
Lin Mo’s mind went blank.
For several seconds, neither of them spoke.
Then the woman raised the gun slightly.
“Your phone.”
Her voice was cold and sharp. There was no room for argument.
Lin Mo swallowed.
“My… my phone?”
“Do I need to repeat myself?”
He hurriedly took out his phone and held it out to her.
The woman took it and glanced at the screen.
A moment later, her expression darkened.
“Are you an idiot? How am I supposed to use it if you don’t unlock it?”
Lin Mo stared at her.
He had no idea who she was, why she was in his room, or why she was pointing a gun at him. He certainly wasn’t about to argue with an armed, injured stranger.
With trembling fingers, he unlocked the phone and handed it back.
The woman began using it.
Lin Mo stood where he was, barely daring to breathe. His gaze kept drifting toward the gun, then toward the blood staining her clothes.
He wanted to ask what had happened.
He wanted to ask why she was here.
Most of all, he wanted to ask whether she intended to kill him after she finished using his phone.
But every question died before it reached his lips.
After a while, the woman finally looked up.
She tossed the phone back to him.
“Here. Take it.”
Lin Mo caught it awkwardly.
Before he could say anything, footsteps sounded outside.
Several men were moving through the building. Their voices carried down the corridor, accompanied by the heavy thud of shoes against the floor.
“Damn it! That little bitch can’t have gone far! Search every room, one by one!”
Another man laughed.
“When we catch her, I’m going to give her a taste of a double penetration.”
Lin Mo’s face went pale.
The woman sitting on his bed immediately changed expression. Her fingers tightened around the gun.
So those men were looking for her.
And judging by their voices, they weren’t here to have a friendly conversation.
Lin Mo silently cursed his luck.
He had only wanted to come home, eat something, and get some sleep. Somehow, he had ended up caught in the middle of something that had absolutely nothing to do with him.
He took a cautious step backward.
Perhaps if he stayed quiet, they would pass by.
Perhaps the woman would find another way out.
Perhaps—
The footsteps stopped outside his door.
Lin Mo’s heart sank.
Before he could react, a loud crash shattered the silence.
The door was kicked open.
