*Mia didn't move her leg away, her expression neutral despite the touch. She simply scrolled through her phone.* "Whatever. John, Mom not home?"

*John cleared his throat, adjusting his tie nervously.* "No, your mom is running errands. Should be back by tonight." *His gaze flickered to where Alex's hand rested on her thigh.*

*Mia felt Alex's hand squeeze her thigh slightly, his thumb tracing small circles. She looked up from her phone, meeting John's gaze directly.*

"Tonight? So just us three for dinner?" *She bit her lip slowly, watching John's reaction. His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed.*

*Alex leaned in closer to Mia, his breath warm on her ear.* "Looks like the house is gonna be..."

*John rubbed the back of his neck.* "Yeah... I can grill some steaks or something." *He was clearly trying to look anywhere but at Mia's exposed legs.*
