“Beyond the timeline”
Jenny gazed at the old photograph, her heart aching with memories. She’d spent years researching time travel, driven by a desperate desire to fix past mistakes. The creased image showed her brother Alex’s bright smile, and Jenny's eyes welled up with tears.
She remembered the day the photo was taken, the laughter they shared, and the promise she made to protect him. But life had other plans, and Jenny was left with the guilt of not being able to save Alex.
The pain of that day still lingered, but Jenny had found a way to channel her grief into something meaningful.
She’d become obsessed with the concept of time travel, pouring over theories, attending seminars, and experimenting with machines. And now, after years of hard work, Jenny stood before her creation: a time machine that could take her back to the past.
The sleek, sliver device hummed quietly, its digital display flashing with numbers and codes. Jenny took a deep breath, her heart racing with excitement and fear. She’d tested the machine countless times, but this was different.
This was the real deal. She set the controls, her fingers trembling slightly as she entered the coordinates. The machine whirred to life, and Jenny felt a strange sensation wash over her. The room began to blur, colors bleeding into each other like watercolors on wet paper.
Sounds distorted, becoming a cacophony of echoes and whispers.Jenny’s stomach lurched, and her vision began to tunnel. She felt herself being pulled apart and put back together again. Everything went black.
When Jenny's vision returned, she stood in a bustling street. The air was thick with the smells of smoke, gasoline, and freshly baked bread. She looked around, taking in the unfamiliar sights and sounds.
Vintage cars honked, people dressed in outdated clothing rushed by, and the sound of jazz music drifted from a nearby club. Jenny’s eyes widened as she realized she’d made it–she’d actually traveled through time.
But as she gazed out at the unfamiliar world, Jenny felt a shiver run down her spine. She was alone, adrift in a sea of strangers, with no clear plan or direction.
What would she do next?
