Sophia wandered through the ancient-looking streets, the worn cobblestones beneath her feet echoing with every step. The old houses loomed above her, their grandeur and beauty slowly being consumed by the darkness.
"𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨?" she called out, her voice swallowed by the silence. "𝐈𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞?" she tried again, but the only response was the distant hum of unknown sounds.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the deserted streets, Sophia realized she was lost. The realization sent a shiver down her spine. She quickened her pace, her heart beating in sync with the ticking clock of uncertainty.
As she turned a corner, she heard the sound of footsteps running beside her. But when she spun around, there was no one there. Just a dark alley stretching out before her like a mouthful of shadows. Her brow furrowed in confusion, and she slowed her pace, curiosity getting the better of her.
"𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨?" she called out once more, but her voice was met with silence.
She stopped when she saw a figure sitting in the distance, at the end of the alley. She took a deep breath and approached cautiously, her eyes fixed on the figure. As she drew closer, she saw it was a woman, her face hidden in the shadows.
"𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐞," Sophia said, trying to sound calm. "𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐦𝐞? 𝐈'𝐦 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭."
The woman didn't look up, her face still downturned. Sophia decided to touch her shoulder, but before she could, the sound of running footsteps echoed through the alley again. Sophia turned to see where they were coming from, and when she turned back, the woman was gone... vanished without a trace.
“𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨?” Sophia called out, but there was no response.
She heard another set of footsteps, but she ignored it and continued out of the alley. Just as she was about to leave, she heard a faint voice behind her. She turned around, but there was no one there. She shook her head, thinking she might have hallucinated because it had been hours since she'd last eaten.
As she slowly turned back, she was shocked to see the woman standing in front of her.
"𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞," the woman warned, her voice low and urgent.
Sophia's head tilted slightly as she tried to hear her better. "𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧?" she asked, but the woman didn't answer. Instead, her gaze went to Sophia's back, and Sophia felt a chill run down her spine.
Sophia slowly followed the woman's gaze, but there was no one there.
"𝐑𝐮𝐧," the woman warned again, her voice rising in urgency. Sophia turned back to her, and her eyes widened in horror. The woman's eyes were glowing red, and her sharp fangs gleamed in the dim light. Sophia fell to the ground as the woman lunged at her.
Just as she was about to attack, Sophia jolted awake in bed, gasping for breath. She sat up, her heart racing. "𝐎𝐡 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤, 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦," she thought, exhaling a sigh of relief before drifting back to sleep.
As she drifted back to sleep, a sudden lightning flash illuminated the dark clouds and her window, revealing a figure standing in the shadows. A woman with her face obscured, her gaze fixed intently on Sophia. The momentary light vanished, and with it, the figure disappeared into the darkness.
