Chapter 5:THEWOMAN FROM HIS PAST
By lunchtime, I had come to one conclusion.
Jude Adeyemi was going to be the death of me.
I stared at the pile of documents on my desk and sighed for what felt like the hundredth time.
Who did he think he was?
Just because he owned the company didn't mean he had the right to ruin my day.
I picked up a file and began organizing the papers, determined to forget about our morning encounter.
"You're still alive?"
I looked up to find a young woman standing beside my desk.
She had beautiful brown skin, long braids, and a friendly smile.
"Sorry?"
"Your first meeting with Mr. Adeyemi." She leaned closer. "People usually come out of that office looking like they've seen a ghost."
I laughed despite myself.

A tall, elegant woman had just walked into the office.
She wore a fitted white dress, expensive heels, and carried a designer handbag. Her long black hair fell perfectly over her shoulders.
She looked like the kind of woman who had never experienced a bad day in her life.
Several employees greeted her as she walked past.
She barely acknowledged them.
Instead, she headed straight toward Jude's office.
"Who is she?" I whispered.
Naomi looked at me carefully.
"Zara."
I waited for her to explain.
"Zara who?"
"Zara Williams. Jude's ex-girlfriend."
Something about the way Naomi said those words made my curiosity grow.
"Ex?"
"Yes. They were together for years. Everyone thought they would get married."
I looked toward Jude's office.
"What happened?"
Naomi lowered her voice.
"Nobody knows the whole story. But she left him when things weren't going well for him. Now that he's successful again, she's suddenly back."
I frowned.
"Maybe they ended things peacefully."
Naomi gave me a look.
"Girl, this is not a peaceful situation."
Before I could ask
